The only way someone trades for him at 36 is if they need a PG and are contenders.

You’ve been watching too much baseball FAMS. Those 2 are gone mid season for sure.

Both gone this year by the trade deadline?

Why would they want to trade for Jrue only to trade him mid season. If it was clearing salary they could just of easily kept Simons and let him walk at the send of this season.

As for Grant, if they couldn't trade him last year at 30 million what makes you think they can trade him this year at $32 million? Not saying you are wrong. but history shows us it might be diffucult.

Yeah I still think the reason is because they got the leagues MVP in a stupid ass trade by the Clippers, vs the timeline thing. Especiually since SGA is the same age as Ant and Ayton. Without SGA the Thunder are good but not this good.
For sure SGA worked out way better than expected.

But its really the non Paul George moves that I'm talking about. Taking on contracts like Al Horford and Chris Paul for picks and then later flipping them for picks. Not giving contracts to vets that seem to be starting quality like the Blazers and all the stupid Kings/Bulls/etc teams routinely do.

Jrue has more value than Simons and there will be far more demand for him than Simons.

Grant? It doesn't matter.

Players values are usually their highest during the trade deadline?

Sure he is better but an extra two years on his contract and a higher salary and a decade older. I just didn't get the feeling that they traded for him to dump him in another trade...... again.
But I am just guessing.

It'll be easier to trade Jrue for value than it would be to trade Simons. I think it's as simple as that.

And you're far better off if you can't trade Jrue than if you had kept Simons.

I think Jrue is here to start this season on the right note. When Scoot gets back we will see a playing time crunch.

I think some pretender teams who want to be contenders this season will be offering good returns for Jrue. I don't know if Joe has Jrue penciled in for a long term piece or a stop gap and just a better value at the deadline than Ant would have been. I tend to think that Joe saw Jrue as someone who could teach and then move on to the team offering the best return.

Only time will tell.

I think you may be overvaluing Grant... I don't think any team in the league wants that contract for his production.

Good move to get Wesley even though he is injured. Caleb Love, not so much...

Wesley has NBA experience but Love is a raw rookie who's just getting acclimated to the NBA game with very few minutes....hopefully he'll be up to speed by the break. I'd give Love some rope until he's broken a sweat on this level. Wesley is just an impact player right now.

Clingan, Scoot and 3 first round picks go to the Bucks….Dame returns early in time for the 2025/26 Playoffs and we make a run at a title

Because I think its selling our future for a one shot, one trick pony that already failed. Never really been a fan of Giannis. Its all athleticism and its gonna fade. He has no shot.
Idk man. I agree that father time is undefeated, but look at his stats this year.

I don't see how anyone can say he is a one trick pony. There have been many athletic players in the league that wish they could put up those numbers. He is a top 5 player in the league today.

We need an alpha on our team and we don't have one other than Dame who also is bumping against father time and one of the hardest injuries to recover from.

Id prefer to trade for youth if possible. Flagg for example.

Remember when shaq and kobe went and got Malone and payton and it didn't work?
You are advocating we mortgage our future for sure, for a chance now. I dont think he is the player that gets us over the top.
Again, he has no shot and we need more shooting.

I do not understand anyone who wants to go all in for a title shot next season and maybe the season after with a much older roster than the one we currently have. "Are you not entertained?!?" The youth, athleticism, commitment to defense and room to improve that we have with the young part of our roster is so much fun for me to watch. I can't wait to see what they'll grow into over the next few seasons. We haven't even seen Scoot on the floor with them and they've been great.

I think we try to get a small ball switchable post at the deadline. At that point I'll be cool if we keep or trade Jrue, Jerami, Tisse and Rob but I want every other rotation player we have to be untouchable, unless Clingan is necessary to get a big time switchable 5. Let Scoot, Shae, Tou, Deni, Kris and Blake build on what they have and either keep the vets around them or add new pieces closer to our young core's championship window.

No getting older and no turning your back on this really nice young nucleus we've built.

Does anyone else find it kind of maddening that Giannis is only 30?

The difference is we don't have an alpha. Giannis is still only 30. Those guys you mentioned were in their late 30s. Giannis has shown no slowing down this year, and I don't think it is ridiculous to think father time doesn't show up next year. Or the year after.

You didn't post here 20 years ago when people like Maris would say "bake the cake" so often that so many folks adopted that and we ended up doing nothing.

There is always a balance of the different ideologies of building a team. But one thing is for sure, you need a superstar to win (other than Detroit, who is an outlier. However, deni and holiday are really the only guys that match up to good players on the Pistons at that time).

I think the difference, the cake back then was a chicken flavored ice cream cake.

I think that is fair. I just think, with this defense first team, the star should be offensive minded and have a solid to elite shot.
I agree with just about everything you said though.
