The difference is we don't have an alpha. Giannis is still only 30. Those guys you mentioned were in their late 30s. Giannis has shown no slowing down this year, and I don't think it is ridiculous to think father time doesn't show up next year. Or the year after.
You didn't post here 20 years ago when people like Maris would say "bake the cake" so often that so many folks adopted that and we ended up doing nothing.
There is always a balance of the different ideologies of building a team. But one thing is for sure, you need a superstar to win (other than Detroit, who is an outlier. However, deni and holiday are really the only guys that match up to good players on the Pistons at that time).

Or the money. Nor the same cap era issuesCronin still doesn’t have the balls that Trader Bob had.
Trader Bob was easily my favorite. I think Cronin has done a great job, while not perfect he’s had some misses like agrants contract and maybe the Scoot draft( big maybe).
Exactly. People gloss over the fact that Bob got to operate with a blank check and almost no rules. They didn't have the insanely punitive CBA that we have today.Or the money. Nor the same cap era issues
What huge hole? He’s the second best player in the league. 65% from the field, 40% from 3.Scoot hasn't played at all this season, and we have to wait until next season for Damian Lillard.
Now would be a terrible time to make a trade of anything besides a small move to bring in more 3-point shooting.
Giannis is a very good player, but he has a huge hole in today's NBA, and is set to make $58 million next season.
