I AM REASONABLE AND PATIENT AND REALISTIC, DAMMIT!
I've also never found you in the least bit condescending. Your moderators however need to cut the shit out. @Strenuus is acting like he's the enlightened and the rest of us are some savage natives he's found. It's lame as fuck and not appropriate.

Then what’s “appropriate”?

Don't worry. He was 100% certain that LMA wouldn't leave right up until the final moment. He calmed down a bit after that, but it seems he's due for another reality check

Bro, you got issues. Calling people fuckers and dumbasses because Josh Hart got traded? You take this shit WAY to serious, like it actually impacts your daily life. Lighten up.

I'm calling people fuckers out of love. I'm calling people dumbasses because they're talking shit. I couldn't care less about the topic. Someone talks shit and I'm gonna talk back.

Thank you.

I was sure.

And then I said I was wrong.

That was fun! Thanks for remembering!

Can you fuckers do anything other than snark and hyperbole?
Can you do anything else but moan and complaining on this board 24/7 regardless of what the Blazers do or don't do? Many posters seem to have grips with you and you seem to think it's everyone else and not you.

Can you do anything other than cry?
It's really getting old now, running theme on this board with a wannabe Canzano 2.0.

We don't know what Joe was offered for Hart. He got something out of it, and a first round pick (most likely since Knicks missing playoffs seems unlikely) in a very deep draft. We can also use that first round as a chip in a future trade.

These same people complained that we should have traded Aldridge for anything before we lost him in free agency. Some people just want to be mad at everything.
The difference is that turncoat motherf***er told us he would re-sign. THAT's why we didn't trade him. And that's why LaMarshmallow is dead to me.

That deal is weird as hell. It makes me think that Ainge really wants to compete next year and is valuing cap space to sing some pieces this summer. Not a bad plan if so, just rebuild around their rookie C and Markennan plus free agent signings and a shitload of future draft picks. I get it. Also, any free agent signings can be used as ballast in trades (with the shitload of picks).
What Ainge did was the same playbook he followed in Boston. When you rebuild, set fire to everything and grab as many draft picks as you can.

I'm okay with this trade, even though I have no idea what it's going to be yet. My guess is there will be a third team involved and those two Knicks whose names I can't pronounce will be elsewhere. I do like the fact we got a bit longer.

Bottom line, we have sealed Dame's fate in several years of mistakes. We overpayed for Turner, Crabbe and Leonard, which hamstrung us for years in terms of salary. Heck, Nicholson is still on our cap. We overpayed in terms of draft picks for Zach Collins. Covington and Powell further depleted our flexibility and we had to burn it all down last season.

It would be great to see Dame win a championship here, but I think he's decided he'd rather be Reggie Miller than Kevin Durant. His legacy will be the greatest player in franchise history where that franchise is the biggest thing in town. I'm certain Lillard will finish his career here, and then get a chunk of the team when he retires.

Our strategy cannot be like the Suns, who had better in a Championship with that team, because once Paul and Durant are done, they are in for a long decade. We couldn't have made a trade like that as we had already mortgaged our future in terms of draft picks. We have to take some chances.

Agreed about him using the same strategy he used as when he took over Boston, but I'd phrase it differently. When he rebuilds, he commits to it selling off his roster's current assets for tomorrow assets/picks and trusting his ability to evaluate/project draft talent. He's willing for his team to suck in the short term for the chance at dominance down the road.

Ok...... let's zoom out and look at the big picture.

We dealt a borderline All-star guy who was locked up for a while for two expiring guys. We just dumped one for a project and a highly protected pick. The other guy could potentially leave for nothing. We needed the CJ trade to be a home run and it has the possibility to be a real fucking disaster if Grant walks.

Well, that's the nature of taking a swing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not and sometimes it's somewhere in between and you need to adjust. Just ask Brooklyn how taking big swings works.

Yeah Brooklyn fans are wondering what hit them.

trading CJ will never be a disaster. He absolutely needed to be traded. More than anything else it was Olshey's idiot obsession with CJ that locked Portland in Purgatory for all those years. It's not the season without CJ that is costing Dame opportunity; it was the 8 seasons with him. I am not completely claiming addition by subtraction but Portland potentially received two firsts, one in the lottery, Josh Hart, and a 20M TPE for trading CJ. Yeah, the longshot bad luck of PG13 getting Covid cost Portland that lottery pick, but still, that was a good return for a player we all knew was covered with the warts we were all familiar with. He didn't get the MeJ nickname by accident

you can go ahead and zoom out to the perspective you want which appears to be blaming Cronin for the current situation. He deserves a little of the blame for the contracts he gave out last summer, but the big share of the blame goes to ownership and his predecessor.

and since you have been complaining so intensely about the Hart trade, could you tell me, with an example or two, what kind of return you expected compared to what was received.

A first rounder that is likely to convey and if it doesn't becomes 4 second rounders along with the chance to get a look at a young stud athlete that hasn't been able to put his game together yet, who if we like him we can make a qualifying offer on is a really nice return for Josh Hart... if you live in a vacuum but we do not.

What in the actual fuck are we doing here?!? A lot of teams are getting way better and we are getting younger and presently worse all while telling Dame we're going to build a contender around him. Maybe things will make more sense in the coming hours but honestly it seems like the team is going to have to trade Dame in the summer for this whole thing to make sense... I don't want Dame to be traded ever but if that's not the end game then why are we doing what we're doing.

I guess we could put together one helluva godfather offer on draft day. We will have Ant's and Nurk's salaries, we'll likely be able to draft with the Knicks and convey the rights to whoever that pick is which would allow us to offer our 2024, 26, 28 and 30 FRPs. Either that's the plan or our front office is trying to drive all Blazers fans out of their minds.

Again, the next few hours might change all of this.

So that's why we got better trading Josh Hart - he was stopping other players rebound. Maybe he was also stopping them hustle and play defense? Wow, what a selfish player - don't bogart the hustle, Josh!
He was obviously also stopping other players from turning what should have been harder possessions against set offenses into fast breaks. It probably wasn't bad to trade Josh because the guy may have been honest with the front office and told them he didn't see himself here long term. How the return makes sense with building around Dame remains to be seen.

@Strenuus you do you. Sorry about last night. I don't really care how you address anyone in here as long as it's not abusive and you haven't been that. I just got bent out of shape because I see the value in the Hart trade but have a hard time fitting it into the context of the promise to build a contender around Dame.

As I just posted elsewhere we may be punting until draft day where if the Knicks pick conveys we will have whoever we draft there and 4FRPs along with three swaps to try and do crazy shit right away. It is hard to see us punt when Dame is doing what he's doing but Cronin is the only one who knows what the alternative is.
