Trade Josh Hart traded to the Knicks

why are people still posting Josh Hart stats? I don't get it. Blazer fans are supposed to look ahead. There's no point in looking at previous trades. (unless it's mistakes Olshey made)
Maybe people were hoping they kept him until the end of the season and so they could watch him walk for free?

it worked for Aldridge. Nobody liked that guy anymore. The most unwanted bobblehead in Portland's history of gameday collectibles.

with Josh getting traded right at the last second, like sands though an hourglass, so are the Hart's of our lives {cue music}

Ugh, this thread has to remind me of so many reasons to be mad about Cronin. Never being able to land OG, not getting Hartenstein (someone I wanted us to draft), trade Hart away for what ended up being Kris Murray.

Meanwhile, we're paying RW3 and Thybulle combined what we could have just paid Hart.

Yeah I never understand the posters here who justify letting Hart walk by saying we couldn't pay him but then say it's fine to throw money away on overpaid contracts to Thybulle, Grant, GP2, Nurk, Ant, etc.

Swear these are they same posters that justified Neil Olshey 2016 free agency debacle claiming that you "can't let an asset walk". Then we ended up with Allen Crabbe, Meyers Leonard, Evan Turner making 200 million.

(he's also averaging 46.6 minutes so Thibs still has the habit of grinding his starters down)

This feels like a classic Thibs overachieve season, he grinds his rotation and loses them to injuries, they will make it to the ECF, bounced off, next year he will try to do the same but the injuries will return and his players will get frustrated, the rotation guys with how hard it is to play so much, the non-rotation guys with them not seeing any playtime, a year after that, he is out.

I am loving this Knicks season, but someone from the FO really needs to stand up to Thibs and force him to give time to more players. If they lost OG for this series, they might not even make it to the ECF, despite being 2-0.

They managed to trade GP2 quickly when it became clear he did not fit, Nurk was a fine salary and the flipped him for the young #1 pick Center they liked, so no big issue there as well.

Now, Ant is not a huge salary for his production, I am certain they can find him a home if they really wanted to go that route. Same with MT and likely Grant as well.

I am willing to bet they talked to Hart, he told them he is not coming back unless they overpay him way too much, and they just did the right thing.

Stupid Thibs! Much better to have a classic Chauncey underachieve season!

No, much better to have people like Pop or Spolstra that play end of the bench players throughout the year so they are ready in the playoffs and there is less load on the main rotation guys.

I understand why they thought they had to let Hart go; but I will never understand why they gave up Alexander-Walker for nothing. He plays better defense than GP II or Thybulle and he is a better three point shooter than either of them.

I love Josh Hart. He's a lot better than CJ imo. Cronin won the trade with New Orleans, but also lost the trade with the Knicks, he could have got a lot more for Hart than just a protected 1st

Blazers were supposed to be a big winner with the CJ to NOLA trade. But those sneaky Pelicans put lottery protections on their draft pick, lied to Cronin about their intention to tank, then made the freaking playoffs.

Portland got no FRP for CJ/Nance, and had to use a Bucks FRP from the vault to grab Jerami Grant.

I guess we can say Portland made up the difference by trading Hart for scrubs and the Knicks pick (Murray), but even the minor setbacks can cause waves during a rebuild.

I know that I shouldn't respond since you're basically a parody account at this point, but the Bucks pick sent for Grant came from the Pels trade.

Who trades for CJ and says they aren't trying to make the playoffs? Is this Joe Cronin's account?

We definitely could have paid Hart. But he didn't want to be here. His family wanted to be in the east. And he probably wanted nothing to do with a rebuild that Dame probably told him was bound to happen.

I wonder how many times it will be mentioned that Josh Hart's wife wasn't gonna happy here and wanted to head east before people realize Hart's wife wasn't thrilled being here and wanted to be east.

A 1st round pick and a solid defender is an excellent trade for an expiring role player. Any other team pulls off that deal at the deadline, and people would probably be on here bitching about why can't sleepy joe get a 1st rounder and solid defender for our role players.

But he did, and still people are certain we would have been able to retain Josh easily with a bummed out wife, and maybe not even have to have way way overpaid for the privilege of it.

there's slithering snakes all over the NBA. I'm glad Joe quit looking for a big splash trade. It's not just opposing GM's causing issues. Cronin got bit by Keon Johnson's "top 20 potential", Grant's addiction to quitting the season early, and players like Lillard, Malcolm & Hart who already had 1 foot out the door.

Keep it simple and grow the team organically. It might take a double, triple, a quadruple rebuild, but Portland will get there eventually.

newest comp on the local radio pods:

> Just look how good the Timberwolves rebuild is.

*please ignore the 20 years of Twolves sucking, then trading everything Minnesota had for a star Center.

Blazers are not ready to trade everything they have for a star player. Which is why accumulating draft capital is important.

Hoard the picks, avoid the Bradley Beals, make other teams jealous, then strike while the iron's hot down the road.

Repeat it 1000x if you want, doesn't mean Hart wouldn't have resigned here on a reasonable deal.

He opted into his contract with NY, they weren't going to have cap space to sign him if he was still a Blazer.

Been reported many times Hart just wanted a team to commit to him.

Cool. Go with that.

So what am I missing here? Why does this thread continue to linger. Josh wanted to leave and was GOING to leave, so they traded him. Why are people still posting about some random player who didn’t want to even be here?

Haven't heard that. All I've heard is that he and his family wanted to go east and didn't want to stay in Portland.

They're looking for excuses to complain. As if their aren't enough legitimate reasons...
