Dunk contest at Moda NOW
Well...... we are trying to do the opposite of that guy who traded a paperclip for a house.
I would like to feel like we clearly won a trade. Not feel better about the trade months later.I don't disagree... The humor is that people hate the guys before they're traded and then act shocked we don't get a haul in return. Almost like they're looking for things to be negative at all times.
Let's be honest... You are wired to think we ever win a trade.I would like to feel like we clearly won a trade. Not feel better about the trade months later.

I assumed we'd get (2) seconds for Hart and a filler. Considering he was going to be gone for nothing, a potential #15 pick in the 2023 draft is more value than I'd expect Hart to command. You may think our roster is in championship mode this year, but I don't. So I'm not worried about the trade making us worse for the next 3 months.
Dallas's pick was protected 1-10. We probably had a choice between the two and Joe thought the Knicks pick would probably have a better chance of being a higher pick.
I love this place:
- "Getting rid of CJ for anything would be an upgrade"
- "Josh Hart for CJ? That's all we can get? Horrible move!"
- "Josh Hart is amazing, heart of this (sub .500) team!"
- "Josh Hart can't shoot, we need him out of here ASAP, he sucks."
- "Cam Reddish and a 1st for Hart?!? Hart and CJ were so much more valuable than what we got back."
We used to win trades. KP was the last GM that truly won trades. Neil overpaid like a mother fucker.
I liked KP... Many of his trades made us better months down the road vs. right away.
I don't see how this Hart trade is a major L like some are acting.

Except this is you ordering a scotch on the rocks, and getting the coke you are owed. You didn't get low value on Hart. It's like ordering a coke and getting an RC Cola.
Still gonna drink it... but I'm not really pleased.
Btw, Reddish is an RFA after this season, so not even cost controlled.
How is getting a 1st round pick for a role player that we were going to lose anyway because we can’t afford to resign him not enough though?I don’t think people are classifying it as a major L. More like not enough.
How many years in a rough are we going to reshuffle the chairs
Shouldn't we wait until after the deadline to say what direction they are going? If NY makes the playoffs a pick from 15-20 is great value.
But I can see why some are disappointed, this is clearly a move that makes the Blazers much worse this season. Brings up questions of the long term plans, why give up draft picks for one year of Grant, resign a veteran Nurk, sign an old Payton which hard caps the team if they weren't trying to win in 2022-23? Why stay under the luxury tax if your trying to win with veterans? Why keep Dame if your rebuilding?
This franchise doesn't have a clear win now or clear youth rebuilding direction. It seems like every few months the plans change. So I can see why some fans might be very disappointed with this trade, especially if they were rooting for the Blazers to win now.
I've questioned this franchise since they fired Neil. Not that I though he was great, but he seemed very consistent in what he was trying to accomplish. I don't see any clear strategy from the Cronin/Jody duo, although I did love the Sharpe pick.
Hoping the franchise now will put more effort into a patient long rebuild and let Dame put on his show as the Lakers did with a washed up Kobe and young picks.

Because I can’t tell if we care more about the future than the now.
Choose one.
Try and get a contender around Lillard or go all in on the future. I’m fine with either. But just go all in on whatever we’re going to do.
Hey! One of those guys is Ukrainian!Time to root for the Knicks plain and simple cause Cam and a 1st is a pretty solid deal - BTW those other players do not count they might as well fly to there off season homes cause neither will see time in a Blazer uni that is for sure

The plan was simple: Get the best asset in return for an asset that was going to be worth NOTHING in June.
It's a gigantic win. A FRP is so insanely valuable. It greases the skids for trades all the time. If we were to take the protections of the pick by trading with Chicago we could theoretically offer 4 FRP plus anyone not named Dame or Sharpe for Durant for example. If that FRP from the Knicks is what lets us keep Sharpe and get Durant, I'm building him a statue. I'm not saying that's what's happening (I mean it's almost certainly not), but man do FRP's get seemingly overvalued by GM's simply because they are so liquid in trades. That's why Ainge is actually a genius. People can hate on him all they want but look how many FRP's he has. And he's in the sweepstakes this year for Wemby unless they owe someone that pick?I liked KP... Many of his trades made us better months down the road vs. right away.
