I can't help but wonder if Cleveland delayed any trades for KL to after July 1 thinking that his almost 5 million salary increase would also increase what came back to them in the trade. Personally I think it made it that much harder to trade him.

Well that and like half the league can't be traded til December.

They should have been happy with an ending contract and a draft pick. What they did by signing KL to the big contract was some what similar to what the Blazers did in the summer of 2016. They knew free agents would no longer be flocking to Cleveland so they might as well resign him and try to get value that way. No way they thought they would keep him for the entire contract, but now if they wait too long it will be like the AC scenario where they know someone will take him, but they might end up giving him away for nothing.

First part (of three) is out today. Listening now.

I just listened to it. He didn't say much besides gushing about Oregon/Portland. "I'll always be a Portland guy" etc etc.

Just based on personality, but I would really like to see Love on this team. I agree on defense we would take a hit, but I don't think Love gets enough credit for IQ, screen setting, and other intangibles that might fit this team well. I like Love more playing next to Nurkic. I don't like him at the 5 at all.
If we got Love on this team people who don't want him would learn to be ok with it.

Kevin Love opens up to CJ McCollum on the latest Pull Up podcast7854/

https://t.co/Oxffuo5cOl

Episode No. 71 of the ‘Pull Up Podcast with CJ McCollum’ addresses mental health and the crucial balance between an NBA player’s social life and work life.

On this latest podcast, McCollum and NBA analyst Jordan Schultz take a deep dive on the physical and mental aspects of NBA players’ lives.

This episode also has an extra special Portland connection.

Special guest 5x NBA All-Star and NBA Champion Kevin Love joins the discussion.

This is the first edition of a two part series. Love talks about each phase of his career and making sure he continues to taking care of himself.

From his start at Lake Oswego High School, OR to winning a championship with Lebron James, this podcast takes you through Love’s journey of how he became the player he is today as he get sets to enter his 12th season in the league.

Love recently addressed how he has been battling mental health issues when he wrote about it in ‘The Players’ Tribune’ back in May.

Love and McCollum talk more about Love's mental health and depression issues on the podcast.

“If you kill the body, the mind will die,” Love told McCollum.

“Working on what’s between the ears… I think that’s lost on so many guys and we play such a long drawn out season… You do have to find some sort of break,” Love continued.

NBA fans appreciate Love and McCollum’s honesty and how the two opened up on this latest podcast.

We got Pau Gasol that is enough out of the geriatric pool. I did not vote because I did not see the choice of " Only after a Lobotomy" or maybe better yet "Turners Contract is over we need another to screw us for the rest of Dames career". Going all in this year does not make sense AT ALL.
Too many variables outside of Hood, Dame, and CJ. Loves last good year was in 2016 his post season was always better then his regular up to that point. 2017 he got worse and in 2018 he was injured. If Love was even remotely viable he would have been gone already.

LOL

I know there are issues on the defensive end, but I think it would be extremely fun to watch a lineup of Dame, CJ, ___, Love and Nurkic on offense. Nurkic and Love would bang the @#$# out of them and you would have four very good 3pt shooters around Nurkic--and both bigs can pass. Even Collins/Love at the 4/5 would be extremely versatile on offense. Stotts would be drooling at the combinations and plays he could run.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit.
The thing is, the only reporter you can trust about Blazers stuff is Woj, Neil keeps everything secret until a move was made, which tells me that dude has no idea what he's talking about. If a report comes out that the Blazers are interested in a player you can assume that it's not true

The "source" is bleacher report writer Preston Ellis, i have no idea who that guy is but it's late August fams and we need some shit to talk about

Just so you guys know this Preston Ellis guy is suggesting the trade would be Nurkic, Bazemore, and Hood for Love.

Dumbest shit I've heard today. That makes no sense at all.

As I predicted earlier, there will be a thread near the trade deadline of who keep between Nurkic and Whiteside.

No, there won't be.

Nurk is locked up for 3 more years on an insanely nice contract. Whiteside is an expiring contract. There is no decision.
To be fair though because of the size of Whiteside's contract and it being an expiring teams looking to get "better" would probably be less interested in Whiteside than Nurkic. With all that though, if they're trading Nurk it better be for something really freaking good.

Nah, Nurk has so much more value to the Blazers than his perceived league wide trade value. Besides being injured kills any trade value he has. This isn't even a discussion.

@kjironman1

Bendblazer22's trade suggestion on BE was Bazemore, Whiteside, 2020 1st, and 2022 1st for Love and Tristan Thompson.
Seems extensive to say the least. I could actually see the player swap but why the draft picks?

Understand when i say "I could see the player swap" doesn't mean that it would be my choice. But i have always been in the camp that Love might be a solid contributor. He just seems to be aging quickly.

Yeah, I don't understand any scenario where picks or a bunch of young assets are needed to acquire Love. His contract is so bad that his value shouldn't be more than expiring contracts given up. Anything more than that and I'd just tell Cleveland no.

Is Thompson an expiring contract? Because either (a) he is, in which case why would Cleveland trade him? or (b) he isn't, in which case he's another fucking albatross contract, so why should we sweeten it with TWO FIRSTS? Plus that leaves us awfully thin at SF. I was hoping to use Whiteside for Love and Bazemore for Iguodala.

I could see Bendy coming back with "Win Now". But mortgaging the future for 2 of the next 4 first round draft picks and being stuck in cap hell again for Kevin Love just doesn't make sense? Then he will go Nobody will come to Portland on the conversation. Then he will say Neil doesn't have the guts to make a big move.

Oh boy... I can just hear it.

Yeah the two firsts are a bit much and that is another good point. We would need a SF still.
