I think the Dame wants player X stuff is a little overblown. To start with he isn't the GM. And we heard for years that Dame wouldn't 'allow' the Blazers to trade CJ

two keys for making the Grant trade successful: acquisition cost; and role. If it's the TPE & the Bucks' first for Grant as a 3rd option, that's a decent deal. If it's the top-7 pick and the TPE for Grant as the 2nd option...fuck that

I think Chauncey has a lot more to say about the kind of player he wants, and he's working with/through Joe to do so.
Yeah, if they trade this years lottery pick or draft a player for another team it better be a home run or stand up triple and has immediate impact on the front line.

I keep thinking that if we end up with 6 or 7 that we might trade back to the Hornets for 13 and 15. We trade one of them for Grant and draft someone with the other... that way Joe gets what he initially seems like he was going for a possible impact rookie and Grant.

I read today where Miami builds around their stars with undrafted players for cap reasons. Often times trading their first for futures.

they've done that with Robinson, Strus, and Martin. But they get 40 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists a game from two first round picks, Adebayo and Herro. Signing Butler is what made them a contender, and trading for Lowry has paid off well for them too. In other words, they have done almost everything well

by the way, Lowry is 36 years old, nearly 5 years older than Dame

Kentucky’s Tshiebwe returning to school…

2 milli NIL deal lol

If he’s not the GM, or de facto GM, explain

Blevins
Keeping Stotts so long
Keeping CJ too long

no, he added Blevins because he was a shitty GM

I'm pretty sure Olshey did a lot of things because he saw Dame's approval as his greatest job security. He was a shitty GM, but a brazen and pretty effective con artist.

Another reason I'd like to move on from the Olshey era altogether. The next GM should be respectful to Dame and if that GM is keeping him, should definitely hear Dame out but shit like Blevins, keeping CJ or letting Dame be a more important voice than the front office whose entire jobs are to find players that fit and have the best value, that we can acquire. This lunacy has gone on too long and has wasted a good portion of Dame's career. It's not Dame's fault that he has an opinion, it's also not his fault that he is way too close to the situation to always see it clearly. It's the fault of Olshey for listening to Dame too much and it sounds very much like Cronin isn't far enough away from that mindset for me.

I don't know what will happen I just know that I'd like a much cleaner break from where we've been the last decade than keeping Cronin and the majority of Olshey's front office intact. The only thing I'd really love to see held over is Dame... if that can make what Dame wants happen and that's for us to become a contender with him leading the team on the floor and do so quickly.

I have heard a lot of whether or not this or that guy is a "Chauncey type" player - I generally assume that means plays hard on BOTH sides of the ball all the time and it seems he likes his team to RUN - lots of fast breaks. I have to ask and I am not trying to be an ahole - but is Dame really a "Chauncy type" player?

I think the same was said about CJ, and he looks like he is running much more with the young Pelicans.

I think Dame will benefit a lot if the forwards and SGs, like Hart, Winslow, Ant, and Watford are all pushing the ball after a rebound. I think after watching them he knows how many open shots that will create for him.

I seriously am at peace with where we're at, I don't like it because there are so man unknowns like who will be running our off season and where will our pick end up... not to mention will we use that huge TPE which was supposedly one of the best assets we got out of trading CJ and Larry or will we just use the MLE and who would we get with that. That being said, we are where we are, what's done is what we have to work with going forward and I am just very impatiently waiting for word from ownership on the future of the GM position and any position above that and any possible reorganization that we might have of our front office after that, May 17th and then June 23rd. I'm hoping that the first thing I listed, the announcement about the future of our front office happens before May 17th. It would be pretty fucking frustrating to find out that Cronin's fate rests on how the lotto turns out and that they would only give a new GM or President of Basketball Operations six weeks to get up to speed on what the inner workings of the front office are, where they are at on the draft and where the new boss wants them to be.

Winslow looks like a "chauncy type". Do you think Chauncey would keep Winslow over Dame? He's a coach that wants to win. He won't get many opportunities to coach a top-15 player

I’m just grateful we didn’t have LeBron making our personnel decisions……..

I really really like Chauncey, I like what he seems to want to do and I think Dame can be successful with it. The only thing that would ever make me want to trade Dame is if the realistic assessment of being able to build a contender around him during the years he has left as an elite player in the league is that it's impossible. At that point the logical move is to tell Dame we just don't see us being able to build a contender around you during your prime so we can move you if you want or if you want to be a Blazer for life you'll be taking a pay cut in your next deal not a pay increase. I think that would result in Dame saying he is cool with going elsewhere and we start to build around the young piece or pieces that Dame brings back, Ant, our pick in this draft, Nas, our young guys that haven't yet shown they are capable of contributing to winning ball (Trendon and Keon seeming like they're the closest) and some young free agents since at that point we should have better than the MLE in cap space.

With #57, draft a guard with a bit of height who passes the rock and/or shoots 3's:
Matteo Spagnolo (Italy, PG, 6'4)
Gabriele Procida (Italy, SG, 6'6)
Taran Armstron (Australia, PG 6'5)

There are always players in the 2nd round that contribute. Just have to find them. That is one thing Neil was decent at.
If you mean one thing his scouting and player evaluation team was decent at, then I agree.

A couple of guys most people may not have heard of for. Tougher to find video on Zvonimir Ivisic (7'3) PF from Croatia), but here is a big time promo video released yesterday on Kai Sotto (7'2", 232 C) from the Philippines who has been playing in the NBL. They try to compare him to Jokic a couple of times. :bgrin: You have to love the fandom they express for him.

Here is one that looks at both players, where Ivisic shows some athleticism for a young big and can shoot it a bit.

Looks fairly smooth in the video. Only plays 15 minutes a game, shoots about 50% which is not great for a guy dunking all the time. Has only .7 blocks per game. Does shoot 70% ft and 30% 3 point so he might be able to become a shooter?

Tons of holes in both of their games, but if neither has been selected by the #56 pick that we have, (Ivisic is projected #55 in the DraftRoom mock), then I'd take a flyer on them. Good height and mobility. Haven't seen wingspans on either, but both look like they are well plus 7' in that area. It would be a type of player we don't currently have. That is what late 2nds are for.....take a shot on a guy who might have some unexplored ceiling.

It would also be a bit of a media think for Sotto who would be the first Philippine player in the NBA?
