Markieff Morris?

As much as I would hate to trade Meyers, if we could package Meyers with someone else (such as CJ) for a young all star caliber wing, I'd be all over trying to acquire Markieff Morris. At this point, would Kaman and Crabbe/Connaughton or Henderson alone get Morris?

They want him gone Kaman + cash considerations

Wow! that is way too much man!!!

Everyone thinks there ia going to be a big trade or a bunch more acquisitions, but the writing is on the wall now. We might pick up one or two more FA's or RFA, but we aren't going to trade away the bulk of our potential in Leonard & McCullum. I am pretty sure they will be evaluated throughout the year to see if they are truly pieces to the puzzle moving forward, but their value now is still really unknown. IF we trade them now and they truly bust out next year, there is no way we would get good value out of the trade And all we would be doing is trying to find them. Too much potential upside for both of them. Lets see where their ceilings are first and I am sure PA and NO think the same. Kaman is also not going anywhere because with Hughes gone, he is our only big mentor/coach type guy.

We are in a rebuild and we have most of the right lineup to do so. We need one more solid vet ball handling 2/3 to come off the bench and be the mentor for the smalls. Maybe a PG and one more SF, but that's about it. Let the team run and evaluate. I am confident about half the way through the season we are going to see this rebuild shift into more of a retool and then when trade deadline comes, we get rid of the guys not fitting the system and build off of who is. At the trade deadline we will still have plenty of cap space and we will know better which players we need to trade.

Just an FYI, 99.9% of NBA all stars come from the draft....Just sayin. The better your pick, and the more picks you have, the better chance you have of finding one

Now you're trying to get cute with me.

i still think every team needs 1 ass hole. lakers were full of ass holes but ron artest really fit the mold im talking about. celtics had rondo and garnett. detroit had sheed and ben wallace. the bulls had rodman. GSW had bogut. spurs have pop
+> I don't see pop as an asshole. I think Texan teams and I think Hardin.

Not true, Sam Cassell won 3 championship and he's clearly an alien.
+> Sam Cassell and his co alien Avery Johnson. The head alien is no doubt Dennis Rodman. Hidden within many Euro players are a few as well. These guys are attracted to orange orbs.

The Morris twins may or may not have been involved in a fight with a guy they may or may not have known who may or may not have sent their mother a naughty text message.

I'm not sure it even resulted in criminal charges. I'd be more concerned with his problems with his coach.
+> You mentioned the word Hornacek. Brash, cocky and all full of himself describes that punk. Suns player or coach.

From USA Today "Marcus and Markieff Morris of the Suns, along with three others, are being investigated for felony aggravated assault after allegedly beating up a man.."

Even accusations like this would not fly in this market. It doesn't matter even if its Michael Jordan, this city would rather root for a perennial loser than a team with head cases but we're championship contender..

Your posts WREAK with negativity... Your posts have really been asinine since you joined...

Cute or not, its true. Draft picks is how we will ever compete. Either a team built through the draft, like the 90's, or through trading picks and young players acquired through the draft like the 2000's teams

More than one way to skin a cat

Look at our current roster bro.

Dame #6 (we traded for)
Leonard #10 (Our actual draft pick)
Von #9 ( we traded for)
CJ #11 ( our actual draft pick)
Plumlee #22 (we traded for)

We have that "rebuild" through trades already. We could easily keep doing the same thing and get the same results.

You gotta really suck to get a chance for a "franchise" player through the draft. Must be a top 5 pick. I don't think we will suck that bad, even if we keep the same team.

We traded our pick and a former pick of ours for vonleh and Plumlee

Lillard we got for wallace, who was acquired with a future pick we got for bayliss....a former pick

Name another that has worked for us EVER
1998. We came from a year, making the playoffs and losing in the first round, lost our pick from a trade and made it to the WCF the following season. The season of 1999, we had one of the lowest payrolls in the league.

2006. Came off a decent year, having only a 3.5% of winning the lotto. Won the #1 pick.

2007. The pick we traded for was 1 number off from getting Derek Rose. This on a year we were 4th seed.

2013. Felton, crawchuck and Aldridge having one of the worst years. We traded Wallace for the #6 pick. We had no cap space and no youth.

None of these are examples on how we tanked to get these picks

Who said the word tank?

Just saying Portland has to build through the draft, not FA

I don't want to focus too much about us or about the other ways available because we are drifting away from my initial point.

Olshey drafted Deandre Jordan at the #35 pick and Bledsoe was selected #18 by OKC but Neil got him for a protected draft pick.
Don't forget about Terry Porter getting picked at #24 too.

It's not like i'm against the draft, i just don't think that you MUST tank in order to rebuild.

WHEN DID I SAY TANK?
i must have been drinking

I like Olsheys approach of getting high draft picks from shitty teams the year after they are drafted. I think it's better than tanking for the lottery

I am not arguing this, but other than Sheed, i cant think of time this strategy has worked. Any examples i am missing where teams gave up young studs and regretted it?
