and will shoot a combined 6.2% from 3...![]()
Well, Matisse shot like 36% from 3 last year, and almost 39% from 3 as a Blazer, so does that mean Simmons and Ray-Ray would shoot like 40 a game?

BTW, it wasn't "full mid-level" as in the title...

Good move...Matisse is a great value on that deal. It's like getting a young Wes Mathews with a better handle on a friendly deal.
Wes is better offensively, slightly
I don't think so..Wes didn't finish layups well (not good under the rim at all) and had a chest high dribble...I think Mattise is going to be better than Wes was...where they are similar is on defense...Matisse shot 38.8 % from deep for us...and he was the 5th option on offense...Wes had much more of an offensive roleWes is better offensively, slightly
Well, with Dame gone he shouldn't be. Sharpe should be starting at the 3 (unless they trade Ant), and I want Rupert playing behind him to develop him. Rupert might be my favorite move of Cronin's entire tenure, I think he can be a lockdown defender with some offensive upside and the sooner the Blazers allow him to try and tap into that, the better. Also, the Blazers should have cap space next year and I'm interested in maximizing that, as it'd allow Portland to take a chance on better role players than Thybulle, or at the very least would give them the ability to take on salary for assets without sending anything back.
There's also a chance that the Dame trade generates a $20M-$30M TPE. I hope the Blazers have enough of a buffer below the tax to use that TPE to help other teams at next years trade deadline by taking on contracts in return for assets. That's what smart rebuilding teams do.
I don't think there's much of a chance the Blazers win in the next couple of seasons, so keeping Thybulle isn't all that important to me. If the Blazers feel like they can flip him for assets back, sure, but he barely fetched Philadelphia anything on half the price last season, so I don't see how Portland could get much more than a 2nd round pick or two. I don't think that's worth risking the flexibility and limited Ruperts minutes behind Sharpe. I'd rather find a cheap shooter for the 3rd guard spot (Skylar Mays?) to play limited minutes along with moving Sharpe down to the 2 to open up more minutes for Rupert at the 3.

Holy cow I need to go green font...lumping me in a multiquote with Bones is not cool!!So, after ten years of "we got shooters!" and no defense whatsoever, you guys still think it would be better to have another shooter?
Don't you think Matisse, great locker room guy btw, can teach Rupert some NBA level defense and put some pressure on youngs to actually play defense?
For me, this is great signing. I don't know what Cronin's plan is, but it would be fun, if he actually wanted to inject some defensive culture into this team.
Scoot/Sharpe/Thybulle/Grant/Simmons and see what they can do defensively. But that's giving up a lot on offense,
Unfortunately not really much left in free agency that we can use our MLE on.So Dallas basically gifted us an MLE? Sweet.
To those not willing to trade Matisse to Dallas though (because I think that's a distinct possibility, when possible...) you wouldn't have traded Matisse for the 11th pick in the draft? Really?
if Joe doesn’t match, he’s dumber than I thought.
Bam!

Also, can we atart absorbing players with our exceptions yet or does that start next summer?
more compelling evidence that Cronin and Woj have each other on page 1 of their contact lists
I think we'd rather have Simmons and picks and/or rights to Clowny/Whitehead and be able to offload Nurk possibly, than take on Herro and nothing else. We wouldn't expect to get much out of Simmons but if we did it would be a happy surprise.Do not even joke about Ben Simmons -- I think the Blazers would rather Have Herro then Simmons who is such a lost cause as a player it's not even funny it's borderline sad. I do not get how some fans still think Ben Simmons can still be fixed he is the worst contract in the NBA by a country mile and it's not even close. I would rather have Westbrick from last year and have that deal still have a couple years on it then his deal and I hate Westbrick so that says something.

Any trade concept that doesn't have another team paying a decent price to get Herro is dead on arrival, in my opinion, for two reasons:
1. Blazers CANNOT take him -- it's not that they don't want to, its' that we're already struggling to get value for our version of him, we can't and won't be willing to duplicate those efforts just to get a crappy deal done.
2. The Heat are already scraping the bottom of their asset barrel to get to something we'd even consider. If they're having to pay someone to take Herro, that's even fewer assets they can trade us. If there's already not enough available assets to get to us for Dame, making that pie smaller to find a Herro taker is moving them in the wrong direction.
Yeah can you imagine trying to move Herro AND Simons?
Wait, they gave him a no-trade clause?
it's Schmitz, he was Woj's apprentice at Draft Kingsmore compelling evidence that Cronin and Woj have each other on page 1 of their contact lists
Veto power? Is that only valid for a year or throughout the duration? No, that's just standard in a matched offer sheet
1 year. It's right there in the tweet lolVeto power? Is that only valid for a year or throughout the duration?
I thought the 1 yr was referring to the rule about not trading to Dallas. But the veto... Wasnt sure. We dealt Allen Crabbe to BK after a similar deadline a few seasons ago.1 year. It's right there in the tweet lol
Wait, they gave him a no-trade clause?
