Sometimes I miss stuff like this, and sometime's I'm like "wow..."
I'm a "laundry" fan. That said, 17 y/o me hated that I had to know who Marcelo Nicola was, and I'd hate it if I had to think about rooting for Tyler Herro because we dumped the greatest Blazer I've rooted for.
Dame's almost 3 years younger than Steph, and he's younger than Steph was when they selected Wiseman. He's the same age as when they selected Moody and Kuminga. And he's the same age Steph was when a historically-great-shooting short PG won a title with a hobbled Klay and Draymond--partially because Poole and Wiggins balled out of their minds (and high-tail projections).
You've all probably rehashed this 1,000 times, but I got the feeling that the extra 2/120M extension got tacked on to both show Dame POR was serious about keeping him and as loyalty (if you think like me) or hush (if you think he's calculating a way out) bonuses for time served. Nobody had to do that.
Even if Dame becomes the most overpaid version of Heat Ray Allen ever, he can easily, even if he regresses a bunch, roll into a role as designated sharpshooter once the young'uns take over in 3-4 years. I haven't looked at your mock trade board yet, but a defensive-minded big is really one of the few missing pieces, and Ant has some value (not as much as a 23y/o 3pt assassin should have, but some) to do some roster rebalancing. Or as I said elsewhere, if it takes Sharpe to get a young big like Mobley, I'm also down for those types of challenge trades.
