wow....one all-star , the horrible mesh with CJ, and about 3 other low-level starters

is there any star in the NBA who would have put up with that kind of abject front office incompetence?
Loyal to the soil. Likely won't see it again, and for sure in Portland. I'm hoping Joe isn't a snake oil salesman, and was being truthful about building around Dame. But it ain't looking good.

And to think, Dame shut it down, having his BEST season ,so the Blazers could put themselves in a position to draft high ,and have assets, and they might end up biting him in the ass. It's disgusting , and dirty if it ends this way.

this stupid narrative that Dame was the shadow GM preventing Olshey from doing his job...it's actually worse than stupid

It's a required narrative if the goal is to paint Dame as the bad guy.

Hold up... he might not have been carrying a sign out in front of the Rose Garden saying that he wants to keep CJ and Stotts, but those two weren't gone until Dame started being vocally grumpy.

CJ was gone as soon as Neil was fired. Neil didn't want to trade him. He could have, regardless of Dame.

I can't come up with a good reason for why Cronin himself wouldn't want to build a legit contender around Dame. Doesn't mean he's going to be able to make the moves to do so though.

I have a feeling Dame is staying for now.

I have a feeling you are correct.

Oh god, new item on the list to complain about Dame for...

He didn't publicly bitch about players and coaches.

i go to sleep now and when i wake up for work (in less than 4 hours), there better be news one way or the other
There will be rumors, which is what passes for news these days.

CJ was 100% Olshey

Dame was good friends with Will Barton...he was traded. He was a friend of Batum...he was traded. He was really close with Plumlee...he was traded

If Dame cared about us fans instead of his teammates he would have publicly bitched about them instead of being friends with them.

Curious where is the report Dame is meeting with Cronin? Haynes report did not mention who he was meeting with. They could be with the marketing department.

He is surely trying to sell Dame on it taking a little longer. A team like Portland doesn't get the benefit of quick rebuilds I guess. We have to do it via draft and plucking good vets out of free agency and smaller trades. It's clear that Portland's rebuild must be an aggregated one. Not sure, if Dame will stay for that, but you bet that's what Cronin was/is telling him in the meeting.

Cronin is hopeful Scoot and the other rooks can learn on their feet, and he can make some moves/signings this weekend and create a team worthy of a run. I think likely if Dame is gone it will be at the trade deadline or next summer.

Don't forget Ed Davis, Tim Fraizer, and his own cousin! Dude has played with a lot of guys he loved, they've all left for one reason or another, and Dame found a reason to love his new teammates.

would be funny if this offseason was bringing all of his old friends back to the team. Like that shitty action movie with stalllone, schwarzeneger, lundgren, etc. ll of the old guys banding together one last time. Brings back Barton, Plumlee, Mo Williams, Ed Davis, Evan Turner, wheover else.

if he can't, he ain't trying hard enough. John Collins for a bag of dicks. We could have been the third team in that deal.

Biting him in the ass? That would mean Dame being traded against his wishes.
Is that what's happening?

See, and I know I might be in the minority on this?, but I would prefer Dame to go in the next few weeks rather than at the trade deadline. I just think it would hurt more to see him in that red and black for a large part of the season, and then hey ho off he goes.

Maybe I am just being a bit dramatic, but just how I feel.

Yeah, at this point, I'm not even sure how much sense it makes, but if I had to guess, I'd say Cronin wants Dame to stay. In the past, Dame has seemingly over-valued how good our rosters have been, so it's possible he continues to do so.

If we're going to do a trade, I just want to get great value for him. If that's tomorrow, fine. If we have to wait until February when a team feels like they're primed to win it all, and they're willing to totally mortgage their future, that's fine too.

I think no doubt Cronin wants Dame to stay in Portland, and yes I know he has his detractors, but I am 100 percent confident he is going to do his utmost in the next few weeks or whatever to make that happen.

That doesn't work under the CBA. Nor would it make Portland a contender.

Dame shouldn’t have vented publicly. Now half the fan base is ready to move on. It’s Scoot’s team going forward whether he likes it or not. Only a matter of time before he is traded… might as well do it now to maximize opportunity for both parties.
