I think if Blazers were to trade Scoot or Sharpe to make Dame happy, and we don’t win a title or even get close, a lot of fans will turn on Dame. He will greatly damage his image and legacy here in my opinion. Any win now trade that happens at this point is because of Dame.

Those fans have already turned on him to some degree, so nothing lost at this point.

A lot more will turn on him if we give up a generational talent to appease him for a couple 1st rd exits.

by the way, I find it next to impossible to believe Portland has a chance to sign Draymond. He'd have to absolutely love the idea of playing with Dame because signing in Portland could cost him 30-40M

You got to get me that list of former NBA players and analysts that you trust. Because from what I have heard over the last 30 years, I am convinced they know less about the Blazers (and the city of Portland) than the majority of fans on this board. And that is saying something.

My personal list: Adrian Wojnarowski, Zach Lowe, JJ Redick and oddly Richard Jefferson

It can be done!
Just watched your video on Draymond. He would be the ultimate acquisition… give a legitimate chance to win now and doesn’t cost us Scoot or Sharpe. It would be the ultimate home run off-season… unfortunately I just can’t see Warriors helping us with a deal.

  1. A willing 3rd team
  2. Draymond to want it
  3. Portland and Golden St front offices to kiss and make up

Would you guess most people under-estimate the work that goes into making a decent podcast?
Absolutely. But I'm not the best person to ask because I'll spend too much time trying to go over the top to make something like this:

Luckily I'll have a well-paying job doing this stuff for other creators soon! Because I'm as passionate about the graphics as I am anything else.

Congrats on the job... this sports thing is fun (and frustrating), but that real world stuff actually matters.

I tend to agree Wiz but I could see a scenario S & T -- Green for Nurk and Knox and the warriors getting a couple of there 2nds back from GP trade too -- I could see Green signing for a little less like 22 to 25m for a couple years I mean Green has made a boat load of money in the league so I doubt money is like a super deciding factor for him. I am not saying it will happen or should happen but I could see it happen considering the team MUST do some things to try and keep Dame from bolting.

They fucked us, they owe us. Fuck whatever feelings they have, they owe us.

I can't believe I'm missing an LMA recap...but you're right, that was a totally different situation from this.

Just after the trade deadline, after the team had traded off Hart and GP2 and waved the white flag, the Blazers (on Dame's 71pt night) were 29-31. That may not seem great (narrator: "It wasn't") but they were 3 games out of the 4th seed and 2 games behind Conference Finalist GSW and NBA Finalist Miami. I get the concepts that people think a .500 team is "purgatory", but both of those "contenders" showed in different ways that flawed teams can still go far.

There are definitely changes to be made with the defense, and Scoot et al. may not be franchise saviors Year One, but Dame and Goodwin aren't dumb. They got their bag, they have the chance to be almost immortal in Portland (have you seen a Clyde Drexler Day at Moda recently?), they can cement their status as the guys who don't chase rings and superteams, and can start working with the young guys to start building an identity.

You were in the trenches with me. Brothers in arms forever!

I would think that the Warriors are around the 30th least likely team in the league that would want Nurk. Seems like a really bad fit for their style.

But would they rather let Draymond walk for nothing?

May not be "nothing"...it's somewhere on the order of a $102M cash return on projections of 2023-24. Lacob may not care, but it's not nothing.

The blazers signed Dame to supermax extension last summer. The blazers know Dame is not getting any younger. The blazers know Dame wants to win.

Why extend a 32 year old star and not be in win now move?

If the blazers make a win now move or moves and they don't win (the championship) you cannot blame Dame.

Maybe. They still have a high team salary. But my point is they would probably want someone else besides Nurk

You're both right... there's a financial component... but the window for Steph is damn near closed. Not sure if they can afford to lose Draymond for nothing. He's such a huge piece of their puzzle.
