Meeting between Dame and Cronin today

I think it's possible that he starts the season with the team to see how we do, and then asks out at the deadline.

But it's hard to say... loyalty is so deeply engrained in Dame's DNA, and if he feels like the team has done him wrong, I could see him asking out.
Yeah, history would tell me that Dame will just stay. That being said when loyalty is so important to someone and they do not feel any loyalty in return they might have a breaking point and if Dame does if we don't do a lot today and over the next few days this may be that breaking point. Hard to say, just the craziest of times to be a fan of our team.

Excited for SL though! Go Blazers!

Yeah, and to Illmatic's point, if Dame feels like the team misled him and duped him, I could 100% see him deciding that it's time to leave. I think Dame will come back to Portland though. I think he will retire here.

That would be contrary to his last tweet.
You think there is anything definitive about, "Survived too many storms to be bothered by Raindrops."? That shit could mean that him leaving here is nothing but a raindrop. It could mean just about anything having to deal with Dame being tough because of what he's been through.

Yeah I could totally see him back here (if he ever leaves) after his current contract... especially if by then there is new ownership.

That's because, for the most part, nobody is acting logically.

Almost zero 33 year old superstars in the prime of their career would stick around on a rebuilding team.

Almost zero teams would hold onto a highly paid 33 year old while they just drafted a potential superstar at the same position.

This whole situation is completely outside of the history of the league. This kind of thing never happens.
I don't agree with that analysis.
Scoot could very quickly become the 2nd best guard on the team (maybe he already is), with the same or better defense than Anfernee Simons or Shaedon Sharpe.
Scoot has a complementary skillset with Dame, much more than Anfernee Simons.
The player that doesn't make sense playing alongside Dame is Anfernee Simons, not Scoot Henderson. (if we are considering just those two players.)
I think it is a huge misconception that Scoot cannot play off the ball. He has already proven that he can. And other than three-point shooting, he can do so much than Simons can.

I get that you think that this case isn't the same, but I'm saying in the eyes of the national media, this is such a clear cut situation and they don't know what to do with it because it's not playing out like they think it should.

i noticed in post season presser, first question, Cronin said he was "open minded" about trading this year's rookies & future picks to increase the talent level in Portland. There was not a definite "Yes, we are going to do this".

So you think no matter what Joe does or more accurately doesn't do that Dame never asks out?

I've always thought it's possible Dame never asks out

but it's sure less of a certainty now than it has been the last 10 years. And I doubt days like today are persuasive for Dame staying, or for him having confidence in Cronin

that said, when I look at the actual free agents that changed teams today, the Blazers haven't missed out on any needle-movers
