But... That would be so shortsighted...Based on what has exchanged hands so far, I hope Brogdon and Grant are not traded. I feel like the returns would have people melting down even more.
I think it's unlikely at this point. All the 'potential' target teams for Brogdon have made their moves already.Based on what has exchanged hands so far, I hope Brogdon and Grant are not traded. I feel like the returns would have people melting down even more.
As long as they maximize the minutes for the young guys, I don’t careBased on what has exchanged hands so far, I hope Brogdon and Grant are not traded. I feel like the returns would have people melting down even more.
Don't think there's even a 24 1st available for Brogdon. Definitely not for Matisse. So I think it's pretty clear we're standing pat.
We don't.why would Portland want a 3rd first round pick this year?
The thing about it is Buddy Hield got a return that I wouldn't be happy with for Malcolm but he's also not as versatile and only a one way player. I don't know at this point what team would want a big versatile two way PG like Malcolm but if they did want him I think they'd make that offer that's a tic up from what the Pacers got for Buddy. All I would need would be that tic up to a FRP that the Pacers didn't get.Based on what has exchanged hands so far, I hope Brogdon and Grant are not traded. What’s the alternative? We keep Brogdon and sign him to an extension?why would Portland want a 3rd first round pick this year?
We still have a full year to trade Brogdon.... There is still time. What’s the alternative? We keep Brogdon and sign him to an extension?
If we can’t even get a first for him, and value doesn’t improve this summer, the Dame haul is gonna look pretty mediocre in retrospect. Being able to flip Brogdon and maybe Williams for useful assets was a big part of what made that trade solid. The picks are still decent but it’s gonna look silly if we keep Brogdon. Unless we trade Simons this summer.
Why would we have to sign Brogdan to an extension? He has a year left on his contract after this year. Trade him over the summer, next deadline? Just curious why you think he won't have any value as a expiring next year? What’s the alternative? We keep Brogdon and sign him to an extension?

But but but.. We want to win 26 games instead of 23.friendly reminder that we traded the best Player in franchise history to make Scoot the new PG of the future only to bench him for Malcolm Brogdon.
Well I've been told that if you don't try for 26 but try for 23 instead then you aren't a real sports fan and are also a blight on humanity. So there you have it.But but but.. We want to win 26 games instead of 23.
Even Scoot has said he thinks coming off the bench has helped him study the NBA game and as long as he plays decent minutes he will improve. Its not a bad thing allow any rookie some coming off the bench time. just my opinion.friendly reminder that we traded the best Player in franchise history to make Scoot the new PG of the future only to bench him for Malcolm Brogdon.
There will be an all star drafted this year. 3 chances to get that guy ie better than 2.why would Portland want a 3rd first round pick this year?
Keeping Dame and putting talent around him would have been better. No doubt.I was thinking 2025-2027 first's instead of 2024. Apparently the thinking is that none are available. I don't believe that; I think it's just an excuse for inertia
I think the trade was a weak trade for Portland and a poor return for Dame. I may have thought better of it at the time than I do now but looking at the entire off-season and seeing the direction Portland is heading, or rather lack of direction, the return for trading Dame + Nurkic (and re-signing Grant) is making no sense at all to me. At least it makes no basketball-reasons sense...it probably makes a lot of Vulcan cash-flow sense
No. We traded the best player in franchise history because he demanded out. If we had kept him Scoot would be developing off the bench and probably not playing right now.friendly reminder that we traded the best Player in franchise history to make Scoot the new PG of the future only to bench him for Malcolm Brogdon.
I think any first is a good return for Brogdon. But there is no reason to trade him if we aren't getting a first.Brogdon has helped Scoot develop just as Dame assisted others rookies. Sure, trade him if we get a legit reasonable return, but dont give him away in a fire sale.
We paid 2 FRPs for RoCo, it's not asking much to want 1 FRP for MalcomI think any first is a good return for Brogdon. But there is no reason to trade him if we aren't getting a first.
