I just hope Chauncey isn't the next Mo Cheeks getting too close to players and not holding vets accountable. It's starting to look like Chauncey is less than sharp with his endgame plans. Hopefully it's just his learning curve but right now I'd love to see Stotts as his offensive coordinator because Brooks isn't impressing me.

it really I think comes down to Dame "for me", way too much time wasted bringing the ball up the court and then dribbling too much with too little offensive movement. I see little change in Dame from the Stotts era and I got tired of that as well. I just don't see him changing much at 32 and we have him signed for how many more years? He's been great for Portland and is a fine man, but there comes a time to change, and we all have to make up our opinions on when that might be

Could you just imagine the "meltdowns" if the Blazers hired Stotts back. There are a few that would quit being fans of the team

your sore point here....do you have any way to gauge it other than being completely subjective. For instance, on all of the possessions that are not transition opportunity, how are you measuring the time it takes Dame to "bring the ball up the court" vs any other player? For damn sure Dame has been bringing the ball up the court a lot less this season than any other season. I'd say Ant does it as much if not more than Dame. The same is true for Hart

what is the average time left on the shot clock when Portland starts their half-court offense? and what is the average start time when it's Dame initiating vs Ant, or Hart, or Grant?

so far, this season, Dame averages 4.81 seconds/touch vs Ant averaging 4.79 seconds/touch. Dame has about 15 more touches a game, so he actually has the ball in his hands 64 seconds more, per game, than Ant; but Dame is the PG and a hell of a lot better at running the offense than Ant. Meanwhile Ant averages 4.20 dribbles/touch while Dame averages 4.09. So Dame dribbles 50 more times a game than Ant....on 15 more touches. These numbers wouldn't be like they are if Dame was the one guilty of consistently delaying half-court sets

More than all that though: compare Dame this season to his 2020-21 season. 6.16 seconds/touch then vs 4.81 now; 5.62 dribbles/touch then vs 4.09 now. Which fundamentally disputes your notion that nothing has changed here

in terms of transition, you are aware that simply having more transition opportunities doesn't guarantee higher efficiency...? Portland averages 1.1 ppp on transition which is only 22nd in the league and only in the 27th percentile. Grant is the only player on the team decent at transition; he's in the 86th percentile in transition. Hart is in the 48th percentile; Simons in the 27th percentile; Dame is in the 19th percentile. Sharpe is in the 61st percentile. It's probably not a coincidence that the best Blazer in transition has great length and mobility; meanwhile, as we all know, that Portland has deficits in both those areas

these kinds of number simply don't shout: "you should run more"

again, I'm having a hard time seeing that your pet peeve is really any kind of issue holding Portland back
 
We just need major moves. I really don't care what they are at this point they just need to be good and assertive. What we've got is not working. I am in favor of Joe being on the phone with all options open starting nine days from now.

Oregon Jam, 1981. Me and my brother attended the concert. His idea....was to take a large jobsite cooler full of grape koolaid....and we seal-a-mealed a bag of weed and pipe, taped it to the bottom, and retrieved it after we settled in to the crowd. Worked great!

They checked the contents at the gate...smelled, and ok'd it. Good times....

The odds that Chauncey will be better than Stotts are not good.

I haven't seen anything that would make me believe he is. Our defense has improved because we have Grant and Hart.

That said, I'm still hopeful.
