DMC is better than Butler. Hands down.
Maybe. But I'd rather have Butler.

Skills and ability matter. So do the mental character and emotional intelligence to be a winner and team player.

I also like Butler's defense. Defense matters in the playoffs. A lot.

rumor has it, butler has mental issues as well though soooo....

You know....now that you mention it...I guess I'd forgotten that. Haven't heard much about that lately?

yea it seemed like they were trying not to make a big deal about it cause they are struggling in other ways at the moment

I would submit that defense is a bigger need on this team than shooting especially given that Dame/CJ would still be on the roster with a Noel acquisition. I love that Crabbe has done in that last 3 games but given his career numbers, it seems a small sample size. He is a nice shooter that does little else. Layman (while much less proven) may actually be the better all around player given time. What do you think?

Crabbe came into the league as a shooter, and has shot over 40% from deep so far in his career, so can we stop with this small sample size myth? He's also still young, so there's a much better argument to be made that he's just getting better rather than it being some hot streak.

I'll be sitting in this don't trade Crabbe boat by myself I guess.

"Small sample size" refers to him being an effective higher-volume scorer. Nobody disputes that Crabbe is a very good shooter from 3. The question that he seems to be addressing but has not yet definitively answered is whether or not he can score in enough other ways outside of spot-up 3's to be relied upon as a team's 3rd--or even 2nd--scorer on a consistent basis. The past few games are promising, but let's not pretend he's suddenly become Joe Johnson.

His role has expanded as his minutes have increased, and so far he's showing exactly what the stats suggested, this team is better the more he plays and the more he shoots. He's also showing other parts of his game that he hasn't had the chance to show in the NBA, but were there from his days at Cal. He was never just a stand in the corner and shoot type of player. Glad he's finally getting to showcase that.

One of the contracts given out this summer worse than AC's.

No thank you.

Maybe we can do some sorta three way with MIA.

AC + FES+ picks/youngins --> ORL/MIA
Goran --> ORL
Whiteside --> POR

would prolly have to be AC only to ORL and fes with picks and maybe bismack (and who knows what else) to MIA, Orlando is looking for scoring, Miami is looking for rebuild pieces, we are looking for inside threat

Here's a question: which player would you rather include in a trade (AKA: which contract would you rather unload) - Turner or Crabbe?

I'm kind of torn. Turner can't shoot and still hasn't really blended in, but he's actually a pretty good defender and essentially our backup PG. Meanwhile Crabbe, after looking pretty awful in the early going, has suddenly got hot.

ya something like that.

Biz + Whiteside to POR
AC + Dragic to ORL
Meyers + Fes + Green picks to MIA

Por in: Biz + Whiteside (~ 39 mil)
Por out: AC + Fes + Meyers (~ 37 mil) + pick

Orl in: Dragic + AC (34 mil)
Orl out: Bismack + Green+ pick (32 mil)

Mia in: Meyers + Fes (exp) + Green (exp) + picks (32 mil)
Mia out: Whiteside + Dragic (38 mil)

That's sorta the framework. Prolly would need some tweaking to work. I really don't want Biz's contract though.

I'm not really interested in moving either, personally. Turner is giving us basically what Iguodola brought to the warriors, and on comparable contracts. I know everyone hates their deals, but I'm pretty happy keeping both, and don't really view either as an albatross deal.

"Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has improved under coach Kenny Atkinson’s system, but the Nets will still listen to offers for him, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN.com. The second-year small forward is averaging 7.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as a part-time starter, but Brooklyn is concerned about his shot as he is hitting just 38% from the field."

still early, and I know its what netted us plums, but did we dodge the bullet, or miss out?

Turner makes the TEAM better playing BU PG. He punishes teams that try to shut down Dame. He is starting to find his role, but needs to limit is shot selection.

Crabbe is more of a solo act. He runs hot & cold, but on average is a very efficient scoring threat from deep. He has trouble creating his own shot.

Both players can make a positive impact, and we need both to play well to win games against the better teams.

However, I would learn toward keeping the player that makes the team better, rather than a spark plug off of the bench. Dame has a bulls-eye on him and teams try to shut him down with their best wing defender.

I think he'd be more useful to us than he is to Brooklyn. They have so many problems they can't afford a specialist. But good teams can use a lockdown defender who has serious holes in his game (Bruce Bowen, Tony Allen, Dennis Rodman).

I'd rather hold onto Turner than Crabbe. I love Crabbe's shooting stroke, but I think Turner can do more things that are positive on the court, between his defense, ball-handling and passing. He also has a mid-range game and can post smaller players. He's basically our Shaun Livingston and I'd consider him a fantastic asset if he were paid more like Livingston. Despite that, I think he's more beneficial to the team than Crabbe.

This is my line of thinking - plus Turner makes less than Crabbe. But if we got a better player in return for Turner that's probably the route I'd take.

He's a 45% 3pt shooter. He's are only above average 3pt shooter to put around Dame and CJ

I think I would swap Crabbe for Bismack. Biyombo was a real asset in the playoffs and we have SOME shooters whereas we have ZERO shotblockers.

I love the idea of Whiteside but Im not in favor of giving up 3 first round picks for him and thats not taking into account the other pieces we send out.

Do you want to be mediocre for the next 5 years, or good to great for the best 5 years?
