Because, my personal belief is that KP is the main driver behind the turnaround of the culture and on-court product of the Blazers. Previously this team has been meddled into a laughingstock and mess by the Vulcans/Allen and I see this as a sign that they are reasserting control and if successful they are going to screw up the Blazers yet again...

Of the playoff teams, I saw a stat the other day that had Portland with 250+, someone else with 120+, and the rest relatively healthy.

Portland could have easily been GSW this year if we had a thin roster. We don't, thanks to the GM.

The Freeland pick was acquired from the Utah/Portland trade that landed the Jazz Deron Williams.

Personally, I think they are pissed at the way KP handled the Penn firing. His agent makes a public mess out of it and KP orginally pouts. Let him stew for a while in the mess his agent created could be their line of thought.

I want to believe this because this is something everyone can get over and KP can get his extention. If it is deeper than that, that is trouble for KP.

I haven't heard or seen the press conference, only the quotes given here, so maybe I'm missing a lot of tone and facial expressions - but the quotes themselves don't seem particularly alarming.

As for why they haven't come out and said "KP is staying": because they don't have him under contract. If they say KP is staying, that strengthens LeGarie's hand in negotiating KPs next contract, and quite clearly, LeGarie is someone who will use whatever leverage he is given.

Brian Smith was on the fan. And he specifically talked about how reading the quotes was nowhere near as informative as seeing the body language and tone of KP. I 100% agree. It was BAD...and all comments coming out of it seem to see it that way.
