Re: Should we hate Hedo?

Toronto simply offered him more money.

I suppose we could blame Quick. :D

Lon Babby also represents a certain player on Houston. I am starting to think that we just did him a solid and now he will return the favor.

Hot damn, here comes Von Vafer!

I just don't understand why Toronto would commit this much to a player at thirty when they don't have Bosh committed for an extension yet. If Bosh leaves you're basically left with Hedo/Bargnani/Calderon with the possibility of DeRozan developing into something nice. That's.. really not a team that is going to make any noise.

Brian Colangelo sure likes him his Euros - to the point he's destroying that team. They went from 47 wins to 42 to 33, and after Bosh leaves, they will be one of the worst teams in the league - with, or without Hedo. Their offer makes no sense, but neither did any of the moves he made last off season either. It's part of a pattern.

Re: Should we hate Hedo?

FUCK HEDO...it is becoming very clear he is only about the $$$..chances are he becomes lazy in Toronto.

I like how The Oregonian says that 30 minutes after being informed of Turk's decision, they were back on the phone lines. Uh, yeah, nice Blazers PR. Working the locals to make it look like they're busting ass.

Thirty minutes after Turkoglu rejected the offer, the Blazers were believed to be back on the phone lines.

Cool beans.

Re: I think we can retire the whole "pritchslap" term

Excellent college and European talent scout and drafter, but obviously couldn't close a door.

How many free agents has he tried to sign? He would've succeeded if:
(a) Marion hadn't made a fuss with Toronto
(b) Toronto hadn't renounced EVERYBODY to get under the cap
(c) Hedo hadn't decided that he was prepared to go to a crappy team
(d) (let us not forget) Memphis hadn't signed Miles simply to screw us.

That's a lot of things that had to go wrong all at once.

But I do think we should retire "Pritchslap".

On some of the boards, its been RUMORED that his wife may have had a hand in the decision.

Regardless, if he does get the reported 56M from the Raptors, then he makes out like a bandit.

Then she should have at least had the courtesy to check out the city herself.

Beat me to the punch.

How would you like him to have "closed the door" on Turkoglu when another team offered him more money than Portland could (and what Portland was offering was already overpayment)?

Sometimes things don't work out. It doesn't always indicate incompetence, no matter how upset one is.

Thats the reason I'm not sorry we didn't get him.

Dudes got his pay day and can afford plenty 'o pizzas before each game for the next five seasons.

That's the bottom-line, right there.

Re: Should we hate Hedo?

Turkoglu wanted more money, unlike the rest of us. Therefore, he's lazy.

Re: Should we hate Hedo?

apparently it was his wife who preferred Toronto.

was Chris wallaces fucking around with our cap space plan a blessing in disguise? sure prevented us from over paying for turkey

Toronto just screwed Portland, but they screwed themselves worse. Good job Colangelo - you'll be fired by the end of next season when you still haven't signed Bosh to an extension and your team is once again out of the play-of picture.

I am somewhat surprised, mildly disappointed, and really, really worried about what comes next. :smiley-frown:

Yeah I don't understand what the raptors are thinking. Their team is going start a downward spiral for the next couple years

You forgot e.

(e) We all just found out Hedo is ***********.

ok self edit. That's not cool.

(e) We all just found out who wears the pants in Hedo's family.

Fuck you, Wojaifnaoeiwjfioef

Man Wojo sure hates Pritchard. It's pretty hilarious that someone on a national level is so bitter and petty.

All I've got to say:

IMAGINARY CAP SPACE

I'll probably add more later. I don't really care about this that much, other than it proves that freeing cap space 2 years ago is a motherfucking JOKE.

Nobody posted this. ESPN has it right?

No deal between Turkoglu, Blazers
ESPN.com news services

Free agent forward Hedo Turkoglu has broken off negotiations with the Portland Trail Blazers, a source told ESPN's Ric Bucher on Friday night.

The Portland Oregonian reported that Turkoglu broke off talks.

Earlier Friday, ESPN.com's Henry Abbott reported that Turkoglu had agreed in principle to a deal with the Trail Blazers, citing sources. The report, which said the deal couldn't be formally signed until the NBA salary cap is set next Wednesday, followed a Wednesday night dinner in Orlando between Turkoglu and Blazers head coach Nate McMillan, followed by two days of negotiations.

Friday afternoon, Bucher reported that the Turkish star remained in Portland, where he and the team were working on a deal.

After ESPN.com reported the agreement in principle, the Oregonian reported that Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard and Turkoglu's agent, Lon Babby, had not confirmed the deal, but that talks were continuing.

Turkoglu, a 6-10 forward from Turkey who played a prominent role in the Orlando Magic's recent trip to the NBA Finals, had been looking for a five-year deal in the neighborhood of $50 million.

Yup. Portland got owned, not being able to overpay a solid role-player as if he were a star.

If this were a true impact player, like a Deron Williams or something, leaving Portland at the altar, then we could talk about Portland being smacked down.
