I have a question with anyone who wants to do some math. Won't Hedo really be getting less of his paycheck in Canada since he has to pay the higher government taxes there? I think if its 10% more or so over the life of his contract the money might look closer then it seems.
I really don't see how this effects KP's legacy. Hedo made the choice, KP can't force anyone, and he doesn't have a time machine to go back and beat THE MOTHERFUCKING SHIT out of Wallace or whomever in Memphis had the bright idea to fuck us like they did.

Kevi was already talking about additional changes after acquiring Hedo.
One would think the horse still needs to come before the cart.
Just like the Miles debacle, the only one slapped is Kevi.

Bwahahaha
I am so glad we didn't use "The greatest trade piece in the history of mankind" so we could have this cap room.
Pathetic!!!!

Oh well. Here's my plan:
Step 1: Renounce Koponen/Freeland
Step 2: ???
Step 3: END UP WITH CHRIS PAUL
Some do anyway.
He has yet to add anythng to this team in terms of a veteran. He built the team through the draft nicely, but has proved againsn, and again that he can't, or won't pull off a trade to help us.
Now this. I certainly don't blame him for losing out on a player that didn't want to be here, but I do blame him on being in this situation in the first place.
Ok, here's my tinfoil hat conspiracy theory that still leaves Pritchard looking like a stud mastermind.
Pretend his objective all along was to go for Marion. He knows Toronto has an irrational infatuation with Hedo, but they aren't going to be doing anything crazy stupid unless they have to. He drives up the asking price for Hedo to ridiculous amounts, then right before signing him he calls up Marion and says, "You know, we'll pay you a little less than Toronto was offering you, but you actually get to win games and avoid Canadian taxes. Besides, you've heard all the rumbling about how much they want Hedo over you." Marion says "Hell yeah," informs Toronto he isn't going to re-up. Toronto panics and signs the big stupid contract for Hedo. Tomorrow we sign Marion.
Why does Portland go through all these contortions when they could've gone after Marion immediately without the whole Hedo thing? Marion's biggest problem is a vastly over-inflated sense of self-worth. The point was to demonstrate how highly valued Hedo was, and what an afterthought Marion was. Plus they suckered Toronto into vastly overpaying, and they got Hedo off the market.
Hmmm. That's the best I can come up with. I think I need to drink more Kool Aid before it starts to satisfy.

Let's see...
1. I am disappointed that KP did not get his first choice. In spite of my misgivings about the potential signing, I don't want the Blazers brain trust to be stymied, and I do NOT want to walk away without another addition and/or overpaying more for the addition(s) we make.
2. I am not disappointed that Hedo is not coming to Portland. As far as first choices go... Turkoglu was a stinker.
3. There are still options. Shawn Marion. Josh Childress. Marvin Williams.
4. We follow sports partly because of the uncertainty and the roller coaster ride... well, this is a roller coaster! Let's all laugh along with it and remember that we have a kickass team well into the future irrespective of what happens in the next month.

Good post. I still think there is an opportunity for a lopsided trade from now until the trade deadline, and heck, if nothing comes of this offseason we still have a pretty good team that should easily make the playoffs next year.Let's see...

People people..geez..
Pritch didn't get Turk-slapped or whatever phrase you want to use. Hedo got told where he will be living - in Toronto - by his wife. I understand why she wants to live there too if it's more international / cosmopolitan. Probably a little easier to get flights to Turkey, who knows. It wasn't the money, or anything else, just environment.
Let's move on to the next boat.
