None of them are effective enough with the ball in their hands. They are finishers, not creators, and we would end up relying even more on Brandon Roy. I certainly do not want Roy to break down like Wade because we become so dependent on him.
)God, I hate to say this, but we should really push hard for Lamar Odom. Even though he's never really played SF in his life, he, in theory, would work much like Turkoglu, even though he's a much poorer shooter.
Wasn't Roy acquired in a trade?
I've got an idea: how's about we get a POINT GUARD?
You know, someone who can dribble and pass?
That way we can let forwards contribute without having to share PG duties with our shooting guard.
I don't think you have a very good memory here, dude. Lamar Odom has played small forward for much of his life.
Ed o.
You are the one who mentioned those forwards.
Who can we get as a PG? Miller? Bibby?
I like your subliminal suggestion better Ruby -oh Ruby -oh.andre miller...
Anyway, I was starting to convince myself that this deal didn't suck, that Hedo would really fit in, and that he was worth something close to all that money. Now that we don't have him, I don't find myself terribly upset.
Plan A always kind of sucked. Hopefully Pritchard can improvise a Plan B that I'll actually like.
I like Bibby, what do you think about him as an option? Also trying to find that other ball handler, I looked at guards with some long spendy contracts. I wonder if Philly wants to blow the team up and move Iguodola or for some reason Sacramento wants to trade Kevin Martin (not sure why they would).Portland has several options actually.
Miller and Bibby can be signed outright as UFA's
Sessions can be signed to a large offer sheet and force Milwaukee to match it or do a S&T
Hinrich and others could be had for nothing because of our cap space. Teams looking to cut salary.
That list doesn't excite me too much.Portland has several options actually.

KP got beat like a rented mule -- No ifs ands or buts. Turk and his agent played Pritch beautifully to drive up his market value to see if the team that he really wanted to play for all along would match. Give credit to Lon Babby and Hedo, KP is looking pretty foolish right about now.
I don't think Bibby is better than Blake anymore. If he is, he isn't much better. Their strengths and weaknesses are the same.I like Bibby, what do you think about him as an option? KP wrote down a name entering free agency.
Carlos Delfino.
5 years, $50m.
Hahahahaha.

I think the big difference is experience and fact that Bibby is a much better player in the clutch.I don't think Bibby is better than Blake anymore. If he is, he isn't much better. Their strengths and weaknesses are the same.
I don't know if what we gain in experience makes up for his incredibly slow footspeed on defense and streaky shooting. The guy just stands 30ft away from the hoop and chucks.I think the big difference is experience and fact that Bibby is a much better player in the clutch.

(This post sounds like it's attacking you... sorry! I'm not. Just don't want to re-type it.)

Ok, here's my tinfoil hat conspiracy theory that still leaves Pritchard looking like a stud mastermind.
Pretend his objective all along was to go for Marion. He knows Toronto has an irrational infatuation with Hedo, but they aren't going to be doing anything crazy stupid unless they have to. He drives up the asking price for Hedo to ridiculous amounts, then right before signing him he calls up Marion and says, "You know, we'll pay you a little less than Toronto was offering you, but you actually get to win games and avoid Canadian taxes. Besides, you've heard all the rumbling about how much they want Hedo over you." Marion says "Hell yeah," informs Toronto he isn't going to re-up. Toronto panics and signs the big stupid contract for Hedo. Tomorrow we sign Marion.
Why does Portland go through all these contortions when they could've gone after Marion immediately without the whole Hedo thing? Marion's biggest problem is a vastly over-inflated sense of self-worth. The point was to demonstrate how highly valued Hedo was, and what an afterthought Marion was. Plus they suckered Toronto into vastly overpaying, and they got Hedo off the market.
Hmmm. That's the best I can come up with. I think I need to drink more Kool Aid before it starts to satisfy.
Some of you are just blind with your love of this KP guy. He got owned! This is a redonkulous comment
Miller, a true PG, has done a lot more losing than winning in his career. Cleveland, LA Clippers, and Denver all seemed to have more success after he left.Blazer fans have been so long without an real PG to watch, they have forgoten what the term means. Many of them believe "PG" means "stand beyond the 3-point line and look for your own shot." That's why a large number of them would actually prefer Hinrich to Miller!![]()
