If Ant + Picks for OG was available it would have already been done. Come on now....

It depends what picks - if your talking two protected first and this was back before Dames trade request then sure do it. If its multiple years of unprotected picks then no I would've declined it.

Supposedly we offered #7 last year for OG and Toronto declined.

OG had real value but much more if we are immediately trying to win with Dame. Being on an expiring contract now certainly lowers his value. Everything I've heard is that Masai asks for the moon.

This is what Toronto wanted last year:

7 + Hart + Little + ANOTHER first.

Multiple people have confirmed this. Yes, he's on an expiring this year, but what makes anyone think Masai's valuation of OG has come down significantly?

The need to extend Siakam and him and the 2nd apron reality, imho.

Toronto will have to face these issues sooner or later. If it is forcing a trade of Siakam for a lesser value or OG is yet to be determined. With Siakam torpedoing allegedly a Portland trade - maybe they are more likely to trade OG.

Folks think he's infallible but he lost Lowry and now Van Fleet for nothing.

here's the thing about Toronto: there has been substantial talk for 20 months that they need to make trades; that they have too many similar players; that they need to reset and re-balance their roster

but they haven't done a thing except trade for Poeltl. All the reports about Ujiri being impossible to negotiate with and him massively over-valuing his players appear to be true

I think he just holds out for trades where he can clearly win, and will risk players leaving for nothing in free agency.

Poetl trade and contract look bad in recent months.

OG has been wanting out but Masai ain't letting him go, at least not yet. With Barnes and Siakam, OG would be the odd man out. Someone's gotta go. OG just fired his agent and got a new one at CAA. He'd be a great fit.

I remember some people going nuts over Masai taking Barnes instead of Suggs. He looked extremely smart there.

The Blazers Uprise guys actually had an interesting idea on Miami picks I never heard before. It was their video of the Cronin press conference a few days ago.

1 Basically it involved getting a 2025 1st from a 3rd team; lets say the 2025 Phoenix pick Brooklyn has. Get that for Herro or something.

2 Then tell OKC they can have the better of that 2025 Phoenix pick or the 2025 Miami pick - but send the worst of the picks back to Miami.

3 Then Miami has 7 future picks in every draft so they don't have Stephen restrictions. They could give the Blazers their 2024 2026 2028 2030 picks all unprotected.

4 They could also give swaps in 2027 (conditional) and 2029. A 2025 swap probably isn't worth doing as their picks is already the lesser of two.

Pretty creative idea. Hoopsjock didn't think Cronin was creative enough to do this. Bones point was Cronin doesn't have to be; just demand Miami figure out that solution such as this and get the Blazers 5 great picks. Then its Pat Riley who needs to be creative.

I guess the 5th pick would be from Caleb Martin going to a 3rd team or something.

As far as I can tell, it's unlikely that we will get the kind of haul that NOP got for Davis, or that Brooklyn got for Durant.

I think our absolute best case scenario is

Filler from third team (maybe Simmons)
Jovic
Jaquez
2024 pick (OKC takes 2026)
2028 pick
2030 pick
Future pick from third team
Future pick from Caleb Martin (maybe 4th team)

So we get two young guys and five picks. I think that's the best we can hope for if Miami pushes in all their chips.

I don't think OKC would cooperate with the 2025 fantasy when they have the unprotected 2026 Miami pick. I also don't believe Miami would expose that many of their first's. Now, you can say, well then fuck Miami, but I don't think that gets Portland anywhere

and if Herro is bringing back a future first I'd rather it was a 2027-2030 from their collection and it was going to Portland rather than back to Miami

Duncan Robinson is a 3pt specalist who only shot 33% from 3 last year and is on the books for 3 more years at 20 million per year?

Fuck Duncan Robinson.
Jaylen Brown shot 16% from deep in the ECF.
Portland should put him with Dame and win the title?

Why? That's you giving into what the M'eat and the media want.

The nice thing, when you know you're never going to be invited to the cool kids' table, is you don't have to make anyone happy. You can do what's best for you. We're the Portland Trail Blazers, charter members of the NBA chapter of Lambda Lambda Lambda.

When did they get the 2026 pick unprotected?

2026 2nd rounder
2029 2nd rounder
2030 2nd rounder

Let's be honest.. you're gutting Miami's future. If they don't win a title in the next couple years they're completely fucked.

When did they get the 2026 pick unprotected?

same trade:

odds are it will be a non-lottery pick in 2025. But there's still a chance it will be the unprotected 2026 pick. And the value of both picks will drop dramatically if Dame goes to the Heat; so OKC has no incentive in making that more likely to happen

Without Martin I want unprotected swaps. Assuming those are good picks and unprotected too - thats a good haul and I'd do the deal.

I suspect Miami is trying to get Dame for less. I think if this was available Joe would've done it. The 3rd team aspect is a wild card. Also Jaquez can't be traded until the 30th. I'd have much preferred if they took Leonard Miller or a bunch of guys with that pick over Jaquez though.

Yup. I suspect Joe isn't even having the conversation until Jaquez is free to be traded. I think Riley pulled that shit to try to keep Jaquez.
