The only way we get Brown this season is if he's a rental. Do we want a rental for Dame? As soon as he signs that supermax (if the Celtics give it to him) he can't be traded for a calendar year and if he is traded everyone in the league can offer him the same contract this offseason.
No, there's no reason to trade Dame for Brown if there's no guarantee Brown would stay with the Trail Blazers.
Why would any other team trade for Brown? They would be taking the same risk.

If Joe can't get a decent trade I could see them agreeing on something that will allow Dame to start the season, excel at playing, create more trade interest, and Dame has submitted a list of 3-5 teams.
That would be the smart business decision unless someone knocks his socks off now.
Dame just came off his best season ever, Im sure he will play like a man on mission.
Dont give him to Riley without an acceptable return.
The fact is the market will be better after some teams come to the realization they aren't that good.
There's always hope for everyone at the beginning of the season.

Brown tells the team or star he wants to resign; like Grant did last year.

Starting to fall in line with Erik Gunderson's thinking on this:

Yup. Riley is trying to force a deal down our throat.

We take Herro, Lowry, Jovic and a couple picks for Dame and Nurk.

This trade matches almost exactly financially. And when they keep saying three picks, I bet they consider Jaquez to still be considered a pick.

That trade would force Blazers fans to build fake Tyler Herro trades for the next 4 years. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

If true the Miami deal is dead.

It's true.

If other teams want Herro, he'd be traded by now.

I am still not convinced that

- Herro (supposedly Miami will turn into FRP for us, how good it will be will be at the mercy of how good that trading team is on the year of the pick)
- Duncan Robinson
- Miami's useless 2024 FRP
- another FRP from Miami on later year

Is anywhere close to be an acceptable offer for Dame.

Miami is doing this:

Let me present you a lower than lowball offer (converting Herro into a FRP is supposed to be a big deal)

Oh hey we turned Herro into FRP for you,

Here is Duncan Robinson, our useless 24 FRP, another future FRP from us, and a FRP we got from team X for Tyler.

Damn after weeks of negotiations we finally got you what you wanted

Do NOT fall for this.

I listen to NBA radio one day a week for 3 hours while I am driving. Today they all nailed it. The 4 I heard during my long commute were logical and were on Joe's side. It was almost like they were reading our message board. Quite a difference from two weeks ago.
They want us to wait and get the best deal and basically said screw you to Miami fans/ media. The one dissenting voice was a guest. Zbo said Dame deserves whatever he wants because of what he has given us and essentially said we should bend over backward to help him and Miami out. Fuck that.

in dame's head, he thinks he already delivered the additional trade value that portland would be losing out on in a miami trade by sitting out games for them.

Sitting out games got Dame the best backcourt mate and teammate he's ever had.
Which was the best the Blazers could do.
Dame is just too stubborn or stupid or angry to acknowledge it.

Wow...just look at this moron. Nothing about this take makes any sense at all. I'm now firmly on the "Lillard to anywhere but Miami" train. Fuck Riley, fuck Goodwin, fuck their fans, fuck their hot takes and fuck their organization. I hope they crater next year.

Oh, Sweet Jeebus. I guess someone enjoys huffing paint in his downtime.

By that logic, Miami should be happy to trade Herro for Simons. I meat, Simon's is a 20 point scorer and that has value...right?

One thing for sure..Herro is not going to be happy in Portland or Miami at this point. He has to get out. I heard he's working out with Bridges in the Big Apple this summer.

Wouldn’t it be funny now if Herro asked to be traded to the Team X and only that team? Nothing’s stopping him from skiing it.

What? Portland told Miami to make their best offer? Why, that's unprecedented!!

WTF? That's a tweet? Like, this guy's inside source told him Portland asked Miami to make their best offer?

That's why dude makes the big bucks, I guess :dunno:

Water is wet.

Lillard and the Blazers patched it up, drafted 3 rookies. Then tanked for a top pick.

But 'why' did they tank? They tanked because year after year they weren't good and they weren't good again. They were just a couple games out of the play in? That is supposed to keep them from making the correct decision for the franchise and not tank? They were not good.....for several years, tank or not.

We can afford it since we have two guys rookie deals the next 3-4 years.

Scoot
Sharpe
Brown
Grant
Nurkic

6th man: Simons

Thats intriguing to watch next year.
If BOS is willing to move Brown for Dame that's when you turn it into a 3-way trade with HOU, SAS, Utah, BKN and make out like bandits! Oh man, if Brown was in play, being 25 that opens a whole host of options for 3rd team partners which would be far, FAR better for us than Miami. Also, if BOS is considering making a play other teams might have to get into the mix and that's how you get those Durant type deals. I mean sure, it won't be AS good, but I'm talking in that neighborhood.

Is it financially possible to keep Brown? Seems like a no-brainer if it's possible.
Brown is a two-way player who is 25. The problem I have is do you play Brown or Sharpe at the SF? I don't like either at SF, but LOVE either at SG. If we have overlap there, then flipping Brown to a 3rd team for young talented players and picks seems way better given Scoot and Sharpe are the same age and IMO Sharpe has a significantly higher upside, especially since I'd press Boston for Brown plus additional asset(s).

Brown is more of an SF IMO. He is a solid 220 with a 7' wing. His handles are better suited for a forward.

Quick question can you do a sign and trade with Brown? It sounds like no form the "gotta wait a year" folks talking about his extension. If so, then I wouldn't want Brown as he would be too risky, unless he told us himself "Oh I will DEFINITELY re-sign in Portland." and then only if you're sure he's not being sarcastic.

Bleed Miami dry. I kind of like this one, which combines a couple of rumors (i.e., Utah's interest in Herro, Philly's interest in Caleb Martin, Allen's availability).

Portland Out: Dame, Nurk
Portland In: Tobias Harris, Jarrett Allen, picks (from Miami)

Utah Out: THT, Olynyk, Cleveland picks (2?)
Utah In: Herro

Cleveland Out: Jarret Allen
Cleveland In: Olynyk, THT, their own picks

Philly Out: Harris
Philly In: Caleb Martin, Kyle Lowry

Miami In: Dame, Nurk
Miami Out: Lowry, Martin, Herro

Jovic/Jacquez could go to Utah to sweeten the pot.

I don't hate our roster balance afterwards, but it would need filled out of course.

Scoot
Ant/Sharpe
Harris/Thybulle
Grant/Walker
Allen
Philadelphia isn’t going to help Miami get Dame.

Haha he wouldn’t give up Bam for Embiid! Talk about a homer. He forgets his team barely made the play-in. The regular season is a grind. Heat aren’t as good as they think they are.

I agree Heat had nice run but very unlikely they return to championship

That's a very nice way of saying that Brown is shitty at dribbling. But I think that was a much bigger problem on Boston than it would be with us. With all do respect to Marcus Smart and the gang, but their ball handlers pale in comparison to ours. Between HENDERSON!!!, Anferno and Horace's nephew we've got plenty of good ball handlers.

I heard Dame will run his summer camp here this off season and his other camp with Beckner in Phoenix..
