IMHO- We don't want any trade from Miami. Everything is lip service. Joe is holding firm and Dame will either be a Blazer or shipped somewhere else. Dame and Co. made their play, it didn't work.

I've started to come around to this. I think the Portland FO is slow playing this for two reasons. They want Miami to turn their attention to trades for someone else. They want to deal with someone else (I think Brooklyn is perfect) but don't want to announce they won't make a deal with Miami.
Simmons contract, for salary matching, and Brooklyn's draft picks would be ideal. I'm looking at Clowney, Whitehead, Wilson and a couple future FRP's.

I think we're hoping that Dame opens up his list.

I also think that Boston is stalling on Brown's extension.

Put those things together....

brown definitely getting that bag, his agent is just pushing for max everything and the team is trying to get it to go down a little easier.

I think Brown is trying to get that full 35% super max, but Boston probably knows that he wants out and is trying not to give him that full contract because they might have to deal him in a year.

If there is a 300+M on the table, I woudn't go on vacation first then sign when I return. I'd do them in the opposite sequence.

Maybe there isn't a supermax offer.

Maybe there is a possiblity of involving him in a Dame trade, like him going to Houston and reunite with Ime and steer that franchise back into winning. Boston gets Dame, We get Smith, Eason, filler and picks (already stated earlier)

We can agree to disagree. I think a run through the play in would have kept Dame quiet for another yr. Whether that's beneficial to the team overall is debatable but that's not the discussion here.

I just don't like the whole hearted embrace of losing that we've fostered the past two years. It just leads to young guys building bad habits and reflects and overarching culture that losing is OK. And what exactly is it doing for Billups and his coaching education?

Don't get me wrong-- they were fully justified in doing it for Wemby, but given the gusto with which they pursued that strategy leads me to think they'll do it again this yr.

When the starting lineup of Nurk,Grant, Hart, Ant and Dame got off to a 10-3 start, that didn't seem like a whole hearted embrace of losing. However, that group then proceeded to tank without trying and by the time they shut Dame down, they were multiple games out of the Play-In and had embraced losing without trying. Tanking just made an effort to get the best asset they could while they were at it.

can you game that out? I can't get the numbers to work with houston this offseason in a way that doesn't nuke houston's talent pool hilariously.

Simmons averaged less than 7 points per game last yr and missed half the season due to injury.

He also is not even cleared for 3 on 3 according to his GM from an injury he suffered almost 6 months ago.

Everything about Simmons actually playing and contributing is simply theoretical. (Except for his salary: he's owed nearly 80 mil over the next 2 seasons).
He also averaged 6 rpg 6 apg. Only 10 players who played did that. He also shot 57% from the field. He just needs a stable situation.

like yeah, i'd love to get jabari and eason and picks for dame. but I dont see houston doing that.

Yeah, just seems like we aren't aggressively shopping him for sure. Perhaps there is another trade to be made that keeps dam and Scoot here. Maybe we trade Dame and Nurk and Ant. No idea how this is going to play out in the end.

We all guess and say what we want to happen and if we throw enough shit against the wall, something is bound to stick.

Dear Dame, if/when a teams loves you enough more than we love you and shows us (trade offer we can't refuse), you will let you go. So far, no other team loves you more than us. At least no one has shown they do.

If Dame's agent called everyone and said Dame would sit out, that wouldn't have helped. Dame needs to provide a list, not one team.

Yeah I've been thinking this too. Maybe he truly does NOT want to play for any other team and that he either plays with Bam and Jimmy or stay with the Blazers rather than going anywhere else.

Some wouldn't like it and probably doesn't happen but it has a chance to be the best outcome

This is so weird in todays day and age. With social media being the predominant form of communication, this drama has taken over the summer. And how negotiations aRe done through reporter puppets airing it all out instead of behind closed doors over an evening, is just crazy to me.

like i read someone else say, everyone is flinging so much shit on the wall, something is bound to stick and prove someone right.

oh….and fuck shams with a shammy wrapped baseball bat ten times on Sunday.
Okay, that’s a bit rough.

Five times on a Tuesday.

If that's the case he and his agent aren't very smart.
Miami doesn't have the assets that Phoenix had to trade for Durant.
I'm curious what the two of them thought a trade would look like. It's seems like it would be something laughable.

They have these:
Lowry
Martin
Jaquez
Jovic
Herro converted into 1FRP by another team
FRPs and pick swaps

So in theory, that will work, but Miami isn't interested in offerering anywhere close to that

That's what I think as well. Unless Miami utterly empties the cupboard and fleeces a 3rd team for us to give us a King's ransom, we'd rather just bring Dame back unless/until we get an offer that blows us away. Which is exactly what we should be doing. I'm quite proud of Joe so far. Question, when is Jaquez able to be traded? Until that date comes and goes I think we can't know for sure that the MIA trade is dead.
