I would do this, I don't know if Brooklyn would but they'd have to entertain the idea.

That being said if I was Brooklyn and I was in this kind of trade talk I would just call Joe and see if he would take Simmons, my two rookies and four future firsts for Dame:

The 1sts in your first trade are pretty bad other than maybe that Miami 2030. It really hinges on Simmons getting back into the game. I love the idea of getting Simmons, but we need some real value from them in return. I really like this trade as we get a bunch of length and/or wings & youth here:

can you game that out? I can't get the numbers to work with houston this offseason in a way that doesn't nuke houston's talent pool hilariously.
This needs some tinkering, but this seems fairly reasonable for all teams assuming you value Lillard as the game's best closer >> Jaylen Brown. It also feels like it might be a slight overpay for Houston, but Houston also seems ready to get back into contention and they'd be looking pretty good with Sengun, Smith, Brown, Brooks and Van Fleet. Great balance on that starting lineup. I really like Horford in the locker room as well and then we move on from Nurk.

That's what I think as well. Unless Miami utterly empties the cupboard and fleeces a 3rd team for us to give us a King's ransom, we'd rather just bring Dame back unless/until we get an offer that blows us away. Which is exactly what we should be doing. I'm quite proud of Joe so far. Question, when is Jaquez able to be traded? Until that date comes and goes I think we can't know for sure that the MIA trade is dead.

I’d just remove the picks and call it good.
Gotta get at least one pick I feel like. Amen could be amazing, but he's not close to Dame, and neither is Eason. Porter Jr. is way undersized and honestly was put in for salary matching reasons. Amen Thompson + Tari Eason isn't good enough. Maybe cut to one pick and I'd want the 2025 swap from BKN or OKC at a minimum. Also, if we aren't getting picks then I want Thompson + Smith but that leaves Houston unbalanced in the front court. I mean I'd take that I guess, but I wouldn't be thrilled and I don't think Houston would do that.

I agree with you in spirit I’m just being realistic about what Houston values right now. I don’t think KPJ is a piece worth keeping—I am just very high on both Amen and Eason, I think they’re both going to be very good NBA players.

I don’t think they’re going to trade Jabari in any scenario. And as an aside, I think the Houston/Jaylen idea in general doesn’t hold a lot of water, if I’m Houston why push that many more chips in without seeing what you have with Brooks, FVV and Udoka first?

I am pretty confident the Houston Rockets would have no interest in Dame or Jaylen Brown for the asking price.

They LOVE Eason, Jabari, Amen
You don't think Udoka loves Jaylen? I agree all three wouldn't go. But I could see them being open to 2 of their young assets being moved.

let’s put it this way: would people trade ant, scoot and sharpe for eason, amen and jabari?

the latter two could be perpetual all-stars. and eason will probably be all-defense at some point.

I think Scoot and Shaedon have as much of a shot at being perpetual all stars as Amen and Jabari do, so the difference would be Simons for Eason.

We already know what Simons is, so its a case of potential vs what he is.

Probably neither team would do it, which suggests it would be an even swap.

When looking for a potential 3rd teammate to play with Scoot and Sharpe, I think fit, meaning someone who plays exceptional defense, is more important than trying to equal the value of Lillard.
Getting ScootShaedon's "Draymond Green" to me is a higher priority than getting "a haul" of players and picks.
getting both would be nice, of course.

Agree. Because the pick outlay would marginal at best and would serve more as job security for Joe (aka ‘GM counting stats!’) vs. material asset acquisition. Joe’s probably not even making some of those picks at the end of the day, after the team is sold in a couple of years.

Simons for Eason + filler would be an incredible move. As good a trade as I can remember since the Trader Bob days. Talk about potential locks at 3 positions for the foreseeable future.

I doubt Orlando would consider that at all, a quick dial tone would occur

I don’t think it’s up to solely Udoka and I don’t think he would like the upgrade enough to give up two of them.

Id personally trade Ant for Eason or Amen... I don't know about Jarabi, but probably him too.

Couldn't that have been said about paying Dillon Brooks 80 mil when they have Eason, Thompson, and now Cam Whitmore who can play the same position at a fraction of the price? The answer is yes. But they seemingly want to accelerate their competitiveness with the acquisition of Brook, Udoka and Van Fleet. I think they'd welcome a consolidation of young talent for a known veteran like Jaylen Brown who isn't even in his prime yet.

I often hang up when people ask me about refinancing my home, as I don't own one, so you're right Orlando would probably hang up on the wrong number call.

I agree. I think we've spent enough time in the kiddie pool and it's time to add a few veterans to the mix. The notion of continual dives into the lottery so that you fill up the roster with young guys "on the same timeline" just assures that nobody on the roster knows how to play NBA basketball until they're 5 or 6 years in and ready to try to force their way to a team that knows what the heck they're doing.
The interesting thing about trading for picks that are 4 to 6 years away is that we can hope that by then the team is sold to someone that cares about the fans. Someone that might be willing to trade picks for players with salaries that make us go over the luxury tax.

Can we not do politics please?
The whole state of Florida is now responsible for Miami trying to steal Dame. It's totally cool to shit on anyone from that state in any context until Dame is traded. And if he is dealt to Miami that goes for at least a year.

Can we not do politics please?

I was trying to do a "will the Miami Heat ship some kids for his camp" joke, but we all know the Heat will not ship anything of value... so I looked for the other Florida connection and tried to keep it plausible. It was a joke...

But, that's a fair point. I will try not to mention politics in the main forum. It's a shame this is even politics...

The moment you limit the conversation to ‘what the Heat can get back for Herro’ you’ve sort of resigned yourself to a variation on the Shit Sandwich, right.

We have a 70k Corvette but the only offer we have is some guy on craiglist who wants to trade us a 15k Civic for it. He is broke with no other money.

Yeah sure in theory he could go trade the Civic for a 65k Escalade and then we'd do the swap.

Miami, sure, let us know what your best offer is you can put together.

In the meantime we'll just keep holding the Vette for sale until we see a deal that makes sense. We're fine losing 5k on a trade for a vehicle thats a better fit, were not going to lose 55k on it though.

You seem to assign positive trade value to Simmons. I don't. I think getting Herro while taking on Robinson but getting rid of Simmons is a net gain for the Nets worthy of giving up one of their many FRPs.

Robinson contract is arguably much worse than Simmons. Simmons contract is expiring next season, while Robinson goes until 2026.

If you had Lowry going to Brooklyn instead your argument makes more sense.
