If nobody will trade for him (or Simons for that matter) it means they are negative value.
Right but we're hearing from multiple reports that the Nets and Spurs are interested in Herro. I also didn't think that Ant was seen that way. I thought Cronin wanted a return like OG and Ant isn't as valuable as OG but again that doesn't mean he has negative or even neutral trade value... it just means that our front office overvalues our players.

Hopefully Brooklyn is taking this stance because they want Dame themselves.
Theres a rumor that Ntes have a nice package on the tables.

I find it hard to believe that, if that was a genuine offer, that we wouldn't've traded Dame and Nurk yesterday. Who is this DroppingDimesxx anyway?

(Trying not to think how old I will be in 2030, the last of those first rounders.)

I think @Pinwheel1 was saying that the Jazz would be giving up draft picks for Herro. I don't think Herro has negative trade value. He's young, has good experience, he's a lights out shooter and a hard worker on defense. Pinwheel please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, thank you. The talking head was saying Ainge values Herro and would be willing to send out picks /players for him.
My guess is maybe Clarkson/THT to Miami and the picks to us? More would have to be included but the point is the Jazz might help facilitate the deal.

What are you basing that on?

Multiple sources said we offered Ant and multiple firsts for OG on Friday. The raptors said no.

What other players do we have? Are you willing to send Sharpe out to get OG and make Dame happy?

Not sure how the potential OG trade says we overvalue our players. Joe just wasn't willing to include #3.

No, but them not doing that does fit the narrative that Joe Cronin is a lying scum bum.

If I was Joe I would proudly own that.

There's no damn way I'm sending out Shaedon Sharpe for OG. That doesn't even make us a contender. Massive overpay.

I just don't see the trade that would have made us a good team, and I think Dame asks out anyway.

Siakam? Wouldn't commit to an extension with anyone but Toronto.

Bridges? We offered #3 and Simons. Multiple times. They said no. Would people have been okay with sending out Sharpe as well? I would not. I think Scoot is an overpay for Bridges.

Paul George? There was some rumors. I heard we offered 3 and Simons and they said no, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Zion? Reportedly was never on the table. They offered 14 and future picks for 3.

Bam? I think we meme'd an offer for Bam.

I just don't see what trade was out there to make us a contender. If Embiid was available that would have been worth a discussion, but that was never out there. I don't buy this shit from some people that "a good GM just makes things happen." If there's nothing out there, how do you "make things happen?"

And then you have Dame shooting us in the foot with his constant need to do podcasts and interviews.

The thing is, EVEN IF Joe said he was "going to trade" to keep Dame (which he didn't say that), it makes no sense for the team to gut itself to marginally improve itself. Especially when you use your brain and realize that the #3 pick is rarely, if ever, traded for a vet player of significance *at the time* of the draft or after it.

Unless Dame is a complete and utter twat, he *knew* that was the case. He just looked for plausible deniability when it came to why he wanted out. Dude didn't even wait 24 hours into the FA period to demand a trade. And if the reason is because Portland didn't make a "splash" in the FA market, how exactly do they make a splash with what little they have to spend??

And what trades has the team missed out on?? It's not like the players traded (Beal, KP and CP3) make sense for Portland or were even remotely an option for Portland. Zion wasn't traded, Brown wasn't traded, Bridges wasn't traded, OG and Siakim weren't traded.

But damn that Joe Cronin for lying so my podcast can get more viewers!

Er, I mean, he lied to the fans and Damian by....realizing that the trade scenarios offered were crap?

Such an odd take (not by you @Natebishop3 ...you have other odd takes)

My takes are oddly amazing!

We tried. Joe tried. Neil is the reason all this is happening

I still remember Olshey's first PC after he was hired. He explicitly said one of his primary jobs was to insure the Blazers ALWAYS had a cache of attractive assets to use as leverage in trade discussions. Maybe not in those exact words, but the meaning was clear

year after year after year, he failed in that primary job. The current state of the Blazers isn't all on Olshey, Cronin has some accountability and so do Jody & the Vulcans, but there is still a mess of a roster and a lack of talent to pin directly on Olshey

Yep. I think it's time that people realize this was the case.

It's easy to be loyal when you're being given more than any other player in the league. There's also this revisionist fantasy that the Blazers didn't to anything and weren't competitive through Dame's time here, but three 50-win seasons, a 49-win season, a COVID year where they won 58% of their games, seven winning seasons and eight playoff trips in 11 years (including two seasons where the team intentionally tanked), trades for Afflalo, Nurk, Hood, Ariza, RoCo, Whiteside, Powell, Nance, signing Turner, Kanter, Melo, GPII, moving up for Collins ... that's not a bad team being content with being bad.

One can easily argue the Blazers poorly executed putting a great team around Dame. That's indisputable. It's equally indisputable to say the organization didn't try -- there's just too much evidence that the team did everything it could to make him happy -- so it's way out there to say they lied. Trying and not succeeding isn't lying.

2pt% .497

Thats what I was looking at

In discussions of the 50/40/90 clubs, the "50" implies not simply 2pt.%, but overall FG% (i.e. 3pt% & 2pt% combined). His overall FG% last year is 44%... which means he is a decent ways off of the 50%.

Herro is a little better than Simons. If I had to choose one over the other it would be Herro. But my preference would be neither

unfortunately for Portland, I think that's the preference of most NBA teams
