Blazers offered Batum $6mill last year, agent said no. Looks like Batum is going to get $11-12mill. Seems like his agent is serving his client nicely.

A) No one has seen this mythical 11-12M offer.
B) The agent hadn't seen a deal from anyone (at least, he better not have) before he was spouting off about "accepting the first decent offer." Every other team realized it was clown town at that point. And if they hadn't, they surely did when Nic received his "offer" from MIN and canceled interviews everywhere else.

I like Nicolas just fine, but at that kind of money he could seriously damage Minnesota's long-term prospects ... and I'd let him.

Go get a guy off the amnesty or waiver scrap heap and start looking for another small forward in trade or next year's draft.

Sure. I mean I'm not sure D. Williams is actually a 3, but at 5 million a year I'd be willing to find out for the next couple of years.

Good for Nic if that is the case. I just hope it isn't the Blazers that pay that kind of money for him. I like him but don't feel he provides that kind of value.

I think it's funny that everyone thought spending would go down with the new CBA...... but people are still throwing around money like drunken sailors on shore leave.

Can you someone explain this to me? How is the offer being moved upwards and upwards? Are the Blazers actually making counter-offers, which Minnesota is trying to top? I mean, I know Minnesota doesn't have the savviest front office, but it's hard to believe that they're bidding against themselves when there hasn't even been a rumour of another team bidding recently (at least, not that I've seen).

If Batum's agent is actually getting Minnesota to keep moving the offer up, somehow, I'm going to have to disagree with people who are saying he's stupid.
