If Belinelli got 42M/4........ Afflao 10.2M a year and Wallace just signed a 42M/4 why is it hard to imagine Nic getting 11-12M a season?

A toxic offer wouldn't really work against PA though, at least not in the sense of the one we offered to Milsap. Allen would have no problem coming up with the cash on the spot to take care of that kind of deal.

He trades the 18th pick for Chase Budinger, he has Martell Webster and Wesley Johnson at SF, and now he's going to throw $12m/y at a player who is at best a 3rd option offensively?

Affalo is 3 years older then Batum and was at his peek when he signed that contract. Guy is nothing but a 3 shooter and a defender.

You did not even mention Derrick Williams. He is listed as a SF and at the very least will get some minutes there unless they make a big trade. It's almost like he is just fucking with the Blazers thinking they will match no matter what.

Good point. Last year's #2 pick either needs to play SF or continue to back-up Love at PF.

How did that work out for those teams? Are they now in a position to contend for a title since they desperately spent money on the best available crappy free agent they could get?

Kwame Brown got $7million in December, that doesn't mean it would be smart to give Pryzbilla 8!

Every offseason tons of horrific contracts are handed out, I hope the Blazers are smarter then that. A chimp sitting on his ass eating bananas and signing nobody would do better then a handful of GM's every summer.

Batum is a solid PER/low USG player who is ~40% from the 3 point line and is above average defensively. Throw in that he's only 23, and $12m/y isn't really that outrageous. Teams have to spend their money on somebody, and frankly, Batum's value is worth more than Gerald Wallace's, IMO.

you have to pay a premium to lock him up for his early prime years, and for his potential to become more than he already is
