OT MLB to PDX: We're talking baseball to PDX (2 Viewers)

Baseball attendance has been down 5 of the last 6 years.
I read an article that it's a number of things affecting attendance but the main factor was its expensive.
Along with more strike outs and so many relief pitchers it has taken some excitement from the game. To many rebuilds going on which stiffles fans interest. However, homers are up this last year over previous year.
Season ticket holders are declining league wide too.
Ive always felt that MLB needs better marketing in order to recruit new fans and keep existing ones.
Love the game!

That's actually a pretty realistic sized park for a town this size. The Pirates park is about the same number of seats.
(And just think HCP. Tthat's 34,000 people to inform how much you hate the game of baseball.)

I mean how can you NOT build it.

But if there were a bunch of HCP's in attendance, capacity drops to 14,000. Still more folks than there are A's fans, but #justsayinFAMS.

that is an eye sore.

Speaking of eye sores, aren't they supposed to make some kind of announcement today?

I really hope it's not more radio silence today.

Naw they will. It’s being widely reported we will have news around mid day today

The only thing that could get HCP at a baseball game......
We did.

I want to work a baseball game in a truck now. LOL.
Well if you are ever having trouble falling asleep, that will definitely help!

I'm not buying it. I actually like baseball and have gone to several games throughout my life, but I'm not buying it. The money isn't there.

I think if you look at most expansion start ups, the money isn't there a good percentage of the time. Derek Jeter's group hadn't secured matching fund for their try for the Marlins even after they were awarded the winning bid. A lot of these types of operations fly by the seat of their pants. Of course, I am sure the NFL ones probably are the exceptions. The expansion fees are so ridiculous that you've got to the investors just lined up and fighting to get in.

How could you possibly know that?

I don't know that obviously. However, I do know there is not a plethora of billionaires in the Greater Portland Metro area. I believe a project of this scope requires the backing of billionaires.

It's someone from the bay area backing this.

Owners invest in sports clubs all over the world now. Look at the Premier League. Foreign ownership is the majority there. Since sports is such an international game now, local ownership isn't such a big deal.

Dude how many times has the Portland Diamond Project said they have a billionaire investor backing them and will release his name when things are further down the road.

Keep up
