You guys are making me feel REALLY old. When I was in the 7th and 8th grade, my buddies (one of whom’s dad was GM of the Portland Beavers and got us free tickets) and I went to Portland Wrestling at the the old armory in NW almost every Friday night. Those were the days of Tough Tony Borne, Lonnie Mayne, Mad Dog Vashon, Stan “The Man” Stasiak, Sandy Barr, Beauregard, and a bunch more. Shag Thomas was almost always the referee. Frank Bonema was the announcer and things got crazy during a lot of the interviews between matches. After the matches were over we’d go stand at the corner of 12th and Burnside wait for our ride and flip the KISN DJ shit through the window on the corner. Great times.
The midget wrestlers were damn good!

Best kind of baseball.

barfo
Its no longer "baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, & Chevrolet"
Its more like "Hackie Sack, Veggie Burgers, Hummus & Kia"

OB, can you put a tune to that?

Actually the only wrestling I ever watched was Saturday Night Portland Wrestling on Ch.12. Early to mid 80s.! Wake up Wake up!

I rarely to managed to stay awake late enough to watch Portland Wresting back then. I used to live close to the Oregon Sports Arena in the Tamarack Apartments in the late 70's when I was a little kid, but I usually only ever went to Sandy Barr's Flea Market the next day.

Was that on at the same time as Sinister Cinema?

So...it doesn't seem like making a snide comment about "aiming" for 2020 has a point. you know, since it's still 2019, and "aiming for" kind of implies they're being hopeful than something concrete.

I know you're still kinda new here, but that's kind of BGD's m.o., he'll try to say things that sound like he is cynical or making some kind of point, when it's usually taken waaaaaaaay out of context or has no basis in logic or facts.

I.e., the "I hear Lillard drinks like a fish", a comment he made years ago that completely highlights what I'm talking about. He's saying "Lillard" instead of Damian, because of how Houston (Damians brother) was also mentioned in the post, and therefore he can have an out. "I never actually said Damian" (tho to my knowledge, he has never said that)

Take note on how many drinks Lillard has. I hear he drinks like a fish.

Haha.

"Something concrete".

Baseball stadium.

Stop it, you're killing me!

God it's annoying that Vegas is getting pro teams before us. They got hockey, football, and possibly baseball all in a span of a decade. We have a larger metropolitan area.

Saw the site in Vegas this summer where their new baseball stadium is going up. Real close to the football stadium. If you build it, they will come.

Isn't it open air? I don't know how they can play MLB ball in 110-115 degree weather?

Well, it helps that they can pretty much do whatever the hell they want there, and in Portland they ban urinals in bathrooms.

I think, though, this is just the A's using Vegas as leverage. But the cynic in me thinks even if the A's move to Vegas, and the Rays move to Montreal, MLB won't expand. And even if it does expand, they'll probably try to move back to Oakland and Tampa Bay (or another city not named Portland).

Vegas has more money

I'd be much more excited about an expansion team so I'm fine with this move.

Me too. I just hope this hasn't been another Snipe hunt.
