Rumor Moving to Portland for an NBA season

Murrieta sounds like a name a real estate agency made up to make it sound fancy. I'd avoid referring to your neighborhood by that name. Maybe it's a mistake? Your new neighborhood is the "The Park Blocks" or "University District", but I'd probably refer to it as: "Downtown by Portland State". You will be living pretty close to Evan Turner and me! Also you'll be living just a few blocks from PSU's brand new basketball arena as well. Btw, the Park Avenue Cafe is a good spot for a breakfast bagel.
Awesome. Thanks for all the info.

Well, I officially have an apartment in Portland starting October 10th. Near Portland State. Ground floor. I will miss our first home preseason game (Oct 7th vs Utah) because I'm running a Catan tournament in NYC but I will be at our second home game on October 10th. I'm so excited. Watch- now I'll get a movie, TV show, Broadway play or something and will end up having to miss the season.

I'd love that area to live in... didn't like it for school, but I loved the ambiance and aesthetic of that part of town.

Watch your mouth! Only time I’ve left the NEP was while serving my county and my first apartment when I returned was about 200 yards south of Burnside. Hurt my heart every night as I laid down to sleep, knowing I was in SE Portland.
what number cross street off Burnside?

Isn't that goose hollow?

So the move is going well. I love Portland. On streetcar to game right now. I drove Uber for 6 hours last night and made more than $200.

Awesome! Welcome to Portland

Did anybody recognize you?

I say do it no regrets in life be spontaneous move here for a season!

Oh you’re back? I forgot you still have problems with me huh? Like your missing friend who seems to have quit our forum after attacking me with long drawn out private messages over and over and over. Thought you had moved passed me.

I’ve lived in the ‘burbs for the past 32 years and seriously resented having to leave Portland for at least 20 of those years. Having grown up in SEP I thought Portland was the be all and end all. But what a difference maturity makes. My wife and I go to Portland all the time because that’s where the decent restaurants are. But it isn’t worth it anymore. The traffic has gotten exponentially worse in just the past 4-5 years (there’s no longer any real “good” time to drive in anymore), parking has gotten ridiculous and is only going to get worse, the city is a filthy, homeless ridden mess and Portlanders in general have forgotten what civil behavior is. And let’s don’t even talk about Portland’s dysfunctional and schizophrenic....and at least borderline communist......city government. Literally every time we get back to our “bland” little town we breathe a sigh of relief. It’s clean and well kept, most everything is newer, we have the best of pretty much everything (parks, library, schools, streets, water, etc, etc, etc), and property values, while high, are nowhere near as overblown and stupid as in Portland. In other words, we find it far more livable and stress free than we ever did when living in Portland. The Portland that was is gone and those living in the current Portland can have it.

My sentiments exactly.

The comment above yours is simply an example of why i didnt partiscipate much, but i see even in my absense, im a topic of discussion around here in multiple threads by a guy who told me to leave him alone....
So my absense didnt make this forum better and now im back! :)

Anyhow yeah, my life is soo much more stress free. Driving to and from the game yesterday, we took 99 and the drive to oregon city is just beautiful. I dont know if it will ever get old.

Life is heaven now compared to the stress of having to watch your back in Portland.
