See similar to this complained about a lot in here. Whether it's the homeless and housing, the poor and unemployment, or Healthcare, always a bigger concern it seems about the underserved taking advantage, and no real concern about the otherwise.increasing gap.

I just love how she drives them crazy. I swear, at least half of the time I put on Fox to see what they are thinking, they are talking about her. #Sad!

Damn I didn’t know we had so many people in favor of 30 year politicians. It’s a little sad.

None of the founders were career politicians when they helped create this country.

I would rather have someone in office who is there to create change rather than worry about getting elected.

Dude, I do not think you intended this but this statement is painfully ironic. The vast majority of the influential and well known founding fathers were all lawyers by trade and highly educated and involved in politics from a young age, they were basically the Romney's and Kennedy's of their times. Highly educated, wealthy, elites that were involved in politics from a young age - their education and involvement in government and politics is actually the exact reason why things were pretty well thought out and very likely why this country is still intact. You made a great point against your own argument, folks with literally decades of civil service and a deep understanding of government have great insight in how to build a solid government.

This isn't to say that they didn't have their flaws, but I would vastly prefer the person with decades of experience and understanding to do whatever it is I am hiring him to do rather than the noobie that has no historical understanding of the thing I am hiring him to do. This goes for hiring a lawyer, an electrician, a doctor, an engineer, or a politician, experience matters. I do not want to hire a reality star to be my doctor, my lawyer, or my president, but I guess that is why I am not a Republican.

I must have missed the part in the constitution where they wrote in "all men are created equal.... except the blacks, Indians, Chinese, and whoever else isn't an old white guy."

Although I know you're not talking just exclusively about voting rights, here's a good example of how the way the constitution was written didn't guarantee the same rights to everyone equally. This was of course a feature and not a bug of the way it was written, as these things were pretty much compromises between those who wrote the constitution.

June 21, 1788: Voting Left to States

The U.S. Constitution is adopted on this date, but in lieu of a federal requirement, it grants states the power to establish standards for voting rights. As a result, mostly white Anglo-Saxon Protestant males, who own property and are older than 21, are the only group allowed to vote. Article II establishes the Electoral College.

February 3, 1870: Black Men Granted the Right to Vote

The 15th Amendment is ratified, granting Black men the right to vote and Congress the power to enforce the right. However, laws, including poll taxes, literacy tests and grandfather clauses, are enacted in mostly Southern states, suppressing Black voting rights until 1965.

August 18, 1920: Women Get the Right to Vote

After decades of protest and struggles for change, the 19th Amendment is adopted, granting American women the right to vote: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.” However, its passage does not stop mostly Southern states from restricting minority women from voting through the passage of discriminatory laws.

June 2, 1924: Native Americans Granted the Right to Vote

Congress enacts the Indian Citizenship Act, granting the right to vote to Native Americans born in the United States. Despite its passage, some states continue to bar Native Americans from voting.

1943 Chinese Exclusion Act Ends

In the wake of World War II when the United States and China had operated as allies, the Chinese Exclusion Act, which had barred Chinese from becoming citizens since 1882, is finally repealed. Chinese immigrants and their American-born families become the first Asian Americans eligible to naturalize and gain citizenship—and vote.

It's surprising to think that it was not that long ago that people were not allowed to vote simply based on their ethnicity which is crazy to think about to me. The problem is that voting laws are left up to states, southern states in particular have had a history of using that power to implement laws that make it difficult for those that are not white and male to vote, think Jim Crow. They specifically are crafted in a way that disenfranchise people that they don't want to vote, it's what they want, and they have been doing it literally since the inception of the country.

Fixed that for you.

When I lived in Portland, I really wanted to move to Bend. The window replacement company I worked for gave me that opportunity. The caveat being that they would pay for renting space, recruiting installers, and marketing the company, etc. But, no salary, nor compensation for me. I was on my own until I could muster some sales. 100% commission. It took a year or so, and dipping into savings, but I'm proud of the fact that I pulled it off. That was in 2014. And the business is thriving there today. When I moved to Tennessee in 2016, I started from scratch, and am married to a woman who wasn't going to carry me in any shape, form, or fashion. So, I studied hard, got my real estate license, and am happy to say, having fun and doing well in the commercial real estate biz. I quit school in 10th grade, and never pursued any type of degree, so I've never had any of that to fall back on. Career-wise, I've reinvented myself four or five times. I'll just call that capitalism.

Great job, ABM! Thanks for sharing.

Has AOC supported policies which would would have prevented this? Sorry, just trying to figure out the tie-in...

Nothing, other than my tax dollars going to support and maintain her Santa Claus Socialist policies. My sig has a comment on that, below, as well.

Can you provide an example of where AOC has proposed raising your taxes? Honestly I can’t stand her, but I do not recall seeing her propose any taxes policies of any kind but I very likely may have missed it.

Good for you, I too have had to work hard and haven’t had anything handed to me. On the flip side I don’t mind paying my fair share of taxes, and expect a well ran functioning government that responds to my and my communities needs.

Government courses , social sciences and political science are taught usually from 11th grade on into higher education levels.....doesn't surprise me when people without the knowledge falsely associate terms like socialism or capitalism without the general ideal of how society works....and claiming to be religious would be sort of a double standard in my view given that Jesus was a socialist who destroyed the temple of the money lenders....and modern religions tend to ask for donations yet pay no taxes.....where's that complaint? Churches by definition should be dealing with the poverty and homeless problem...they've been well paid to do more than pray and take confessions and money from the poor and working class.

Socialism, in and of itself, answers that question.
