I only knew of this guy as Halle Berry's ex-husband but had never heard his music.

This sounds like merlot tastes - earthy, rich, seductive and yummy.

I hear a lot of Donny Hathaway in his work

This just popped up on Pandora today. Needless to say it got the thumbs up.

The song he sampled isn't bad either

This is good stuff Fonz! Hip Hop about something meaningful still exists!!

I've been meaning to ask you who the person in your avatar was (not the current one but the one you had been using)... was it Erykah Badu? If so, I loved her Baduizm album so much I could probably still sing all the words to all the songs on the album straight through even though it came out almost 20 years ago.

Yep, that is Ms. Badu!

Current one is Pete Rock & CL Smooth, which is probably my favorite hip hop duo of all time. CL being one of the best MC's and Pete Rock one of the best producers.

You've opened my eyes to some great stuff I've never heard... thank you!!! That Arthur Adams song reminded me of this:

I'm sure I've posted this one before but I'm going to post it again because it's that good

Some UK underground

I pulled a car into the shop and the radio was on some channel that played this. HOLY FUCK

It's like old school Twinkies when they were good. NO redeeming value whatsoever but somehow I like it.

I'm going to start posting videos in spoilers because this thread is even a tax on my desktop, and damn near unload-able on my tablet. I don't think this page loads media posted inside of a spoiler until it is clicked, therefor if everyone posts their videos within spoiler tags this thread may be less laggy.

This is one of my favorite De La tracks.

Old School

Tons of great lyrics in this one

"You know that I'm back man, you're whack man, I eat a rapper like I'm Pac-Man"

"This style of mine is well defined like Websters"

"I connect my rhymes like lego, so let go my eggo, I burn you like Waco"

Headnodic has worked with the PUTS. Really similar sound on this one.

Another great underground track produced by Premier.

Speaking of great voices.... it's hard to believe that Jeff Buckley has been gone for almost 20 years now. When he disappeared into the muddy waters of the Mississippi, the Heavens took a matchless talent. Somebody who could move the world to tears. I wish he had finished his final album and had given us much more.
