Why did I have to find this band by wikipedia searching The Company Band?

Fuck you corporate radio

Picked this up at Goodwill a couple days ago. Had it on CD back in the day. Sounds great on vinyl.

Isn't the guy in that group like one of Australia's head politicians or something?

Lead singer Peter Garrett has held various positions in Australian government (Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts and Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth), basically similar to cabinet positions in the US. He doesn't currently hold any political office.

Yeah. I always remember preferring Crowded House who were out at the same time because they left politics out of it. By the end of the 80's, you were sick of being told what to do by celebrities. It just cascaded from Live Aid and got worse and worse.

Diesel and Dust is the only one of their albums I've ever owned. It's actually a great album. The music video for Beds are Burning got a lot of play on MTV and VH1, back near the end of their days of playing videos 24/7.

I always found Crowded House kind of bland. Neil Finn of Crowded House is currently touring with Fleetwood Mac. He is half of their Lindsey Buckingham replacement. The other half is Mike Campbell of The Heartbreakers.

The problem with Crowded House was their music was really AOR radio friendly. They were great songs but produced the same way. Split Enz was probably a little more eclectic and Tim Finn was also a really good songwriter. I like his solo stuff a lot. That's funny about Neil fronting Fleetwood Mac. I guess Mike Campbell is taking care of the Peter Green songs.

Dave Brubeck Take Five

I think I may have heard this song while eating at a Buster's Texas style barbecue restaurant. Normally, I don't care for Country Western music but in that joint it's really apropos. Great beef brisket poor boys, by the way. I always get lots of bark and an iced tea. Pretty good french fries especially if you get them without salt 'cause they have to make them fresh and they're very very hot.
