I've got to say a couple of things about Norman Powell.
I know the guy puts up good numbers, but am I the only one that think he doesn't perform anywhere close to his stats?
He missed a key FT tonight. I remember him splitting a lot of FTs that seemed to be at important moments for the Blazers. For a guy that shoots in the mid-to-high 80s at the FT line, he seems to be so average when the lights get bright.
On top of that, where was he on offense? He made that one tough 3 down the stretch, but, otherwise, he was invisible. How does a 20 ppg scorer on a team missing Kawhi and PG become so irrelevant when it's winning time?
And I had no confidence he could stay in front of CJ. CJ might not be making shots, but he was getting loose and creating situations where the Pels could get on the offensive glass.
Trading Trent for Norm was just such a mid move. Statistically, Norm was a slight upgrade, but it wasn't enough to forgive the redundancy of adding him to the roster in Trent's place. The Blazers lost continuity, but if they were going to trade Trent, they needed to get a true 3 back, IMO.
And don't get me started on trading two firsts for RoCo.
