New Quick Hint: All Star?

OK, this made me laugh. You have the second overall pick as the team's third string shooting guard, behind Rudy?

I couldn't help but laugh either. But if we put Rudy ahead of the second pick in the draft, maybe that would stop him bitching since he is higher on the depth chart than a potential stud. :D

Heh. Now just for a second imagine this message board if Nate benched Turner to give Rudy burn.

Theoretical Nate: "Rudy's got experience -- he dunked on Dwight Howard once in the Olympics. Evan is a very, very, very good player and he has a bright future ahead of him, but we're not sure he can play alongside Brandon."

If his name was "John Wall" and he didn't have to gut the roster to get him, it sure as hell would!
You really think so? If he's mad at KP for our roster of potential and next year, a big name rookie is going to save his job? Hell no.

LMA and Bayless isn't enough for Bosh, let alone him AND Calderon.

So include Rudy...then Turner can back up Roy, any this makes it look more plausible? And Niko won't find it so funny?

Deal!

Would a sign and trade with the Suns work?

Amare and Nash for LMA, Bayless and Rudy get this done?

Nash, Miller, Koponen
Roy, Turner
Batum, Cunningham
Amare, Pendergraph
Camby, Oden

Still could trade Pryz, Webster and our #22 to Philly for Brand and Turner!
And would be in a nice position come the 2011 trade deadline to move Miller for a prospect PG?

Not near enough money going out.

Once the knicks realize they are out of the Lebron sweepstakes, what about a three team deal that sends LMA and our #22 to NY; Pryz and Lee go to Toronto; and Bosh comes to the Blazers?

Lee with Bargs is better than LMA with Bargs. Everyone wins with this scenario.

Then look to send Bayless and Rudy to NO for Collison.

Miller / Collison
Roy / Webster / and best available 2G with our #44, unless we move up
Batum / Cunningham
Bosh / Pendergraph
Oden / Camby

Haven't seen this guess thrown out there yet - although I admittedly just did a quick scan.

I wouldn't ignore Deron Williams. I know that he's basically a superstar and in our division, so in that sense, he's probably an unlikely candidate, BUT...

If Utah was certain that Boozer was leaving, do they really think they can compete w/ DWill, an injured and aging Okur, Milsap and some undrafted wings? In a division with us, upcoming OKC, and Denver I don't think they can, they may, quietly, be considering rebuilding with youth.

-People have mentioned that the hint that Quick gave is that it would happen during or before the draft which eliminates the Bosh's, Lebrons, Wades, Joe Johnsons, etc., of the world, but NOT Dwill.
-It's no secret that KP has always had his eye on Utah and more specifically, he's discussed his desire for DWill w/ Quick before.
-DWill is an absolutely perfect fit next to BRoy
-Remember DWill was VERY upset earlier in the season, and their early ousting in the playoffs and Boozer leaving can't excite him.
-Okur has alot of $ left and 3 years his contract and Kirilenko has 2 years at $16.5M left. With Pryz and Andre, Portland could conceivably absorb a ton of that $ from Utah.

Obviously this is almost a 'blow up' type deal, but like I said, I was trying to think outside the box for something that would keep KP here and fit w/ the "hints"...

Something like Dre, Pryz, 22, Batum, Rudy, our Euros, and Cash for DWill, Okur and Kirilenko would certainly put Portland in a position to go for a championship and allow Utah to shed a ton of money and gives them alot of young prospects...

Out there for sure, no question, but it's a thought. I'd LOOOOOOOOVE to have DWill here!

The chat from O-Live lost the audio because it was a corrupted file.

Anyway, if it's a deal that "Paul Allen can't turn down" It has to be something huge.

Btw, did someone really mention Mo Williams?! :smack:

That would be the only way I would wanna Trade LMA, if he went to NYC, I would hate to see him go back to Texas or anyplace else

Pipe dream, CP3 is more likely

How about this, what are your thoughts guys:

Or in an effort to keep the big 3 (Roy, Aldridge, Oden), what about dangling Batum as the center piece for Parker? Wasn't San Antonio high on Batum coming out of the draft before we jumped ahead of them to pick Batum? Plus, with Jefferson pretty much being awful, the Spurs could use an SF IMO. So would somehting like Batum, Miller, and Pryzbilla and perhaps draft picks if needed work for Parker and if needed a scrub salary wise? I know losing Batum sucks, but it turns the big 3 into the big 4. Would people do this? Would you guys prefer to trade Aldridge instead ? Or would you prefer to look elsewhere altogether?

I posted it on another forum and was wondering if any of you want Parker at all, and if so, if you would be willing to part with Batum in an attempt to keep the big 3 in tact and make it the big 4. Of course, I have no idea if it works salary wise.

I'd rather trade Aldridge with his bloated contract instead of Batum.

I agree with you. Aldridge seems like he'll be an 18-19 PER player with reasonable defense. I think Batum is going to reach at least that level in terms of production, but with fantastic defense. Granted, he's smaller, but the "never trade big for small" (in effect what we're talking about here about who to dangle) is probably a little less true these days...the rules/officiating seem more set up to protect wings. Plus, if Oden stays healthy (okay, okay, nik and oldmangrouch, your incredulity is noted), I'm fine with him basically sucking up all the post touches and building a big-time perimeter around him.

I'd rather have Aldridge and Turner than Batum and Favors, I think.

Or would I? Aldridge and Turner are older and Aldridge is WAY more expensive. I think I need to ponder this a bit. :)

Interesting. Aldridge is a little more proven then Batum, but no one can deny his potential, his shooting (will help to create spacing on the floor), and defense. If only the kid could improve is ball handeling, that would be awesome. I don't know which way I would lean, I feel Parker could help make Aldridge a little better, and though, he is not a true PG he is a master at getting to the rim so I feel like there will be open opportunities for Aldridge. I don't know, it is a tough call when discussing Parker.

That is a tough one, isn't it!

My (probably irrational) feeling is that Favors is going to be a monster, while Turner may be slightly over-rated.

Interesting thinking, and I think you are right about it being one of the few ideas that fits the hints. Utah might be at the point where they are thinking they can't go any further with this bunch
and might as well save some money and start over. I wonder if they couldn't find a better trading partner than the Blazers though.

After researching that trade with Utah a little more, I don't think there is a chance; according to RealGM Kirilenko only has one year left and his contract is so big that it would be almost impossible for Portland to match up. And Okur is pretty productive for his contract size so I don't really see them doing this.

Another thing, it seems almost any trade for an all star would need Pryzbilla's contact to make the money match and he isn't tradable until July 1st. So he wouldn't be available under Quick's hints and definitely wouldn't be able to be in a trade that would get us a draft pick back; unless the trade was arranged ahead of time with the other team drafting who we say, but I don't recall that ever happening in previous years.

Joel can opt in to his contract, I believe, at any time, and thus be tradeable.

I'm not sure that this is accurate, but I have seen a couple of sources saying that Joel has already picked up his option:

http://www.yardbarker.com/nba/artic..._season_for_the_Portland_Trailblazers/2695391

Unfortunately, the NBA isn't keeping its transactions page up to date right now.

If that's true, does that mean he could be tradeable before July 1st? I wonder if KP really does have something in the works and asked Joel if he'd do this now so he can go forward with his plans? Then again I don't know enough about the CBA to know if that's even possible under the current rules.
