again... im almost certain you can't combine bledsoe's deal with any of our other contracts in a non-simultaneous trade. we can move bled one for one, but not with Nurk and Ant.If he has a specific target that let's say makes about 33M and they want Nurk and Ant for that guy, plus a bunch of money that drops off at the end of this season... then having Bledsoe's money that can drop off and match 18M of that 33M makes more sense than having RoCo's 12.9M. And that can be plugged in with any combo of players. So the only thing that makes sense is that we have a specific trade on the table with another team that needed a different amount of money coming in than we could have put together with players we're willing to give up.
Still though, we should have made the Clippers pay a lot more in draft assets to get that much better.
Dude as has been pointed out to you ad nauseam we didn't clear enough cap space to really make a difference given what we owe guys and the cap holds on Ant and Nurk. Don't get me wrong though there are possible logical reasons that we brought back the players we did... they just aren't the reason that you're holding onto despite the fact that many people have very clearly explained to you why you're wrong. This is the problem some fans are not realizing - could we have gotten better players and/or assets -- SURE but if the goal was to free up cap space for the future then this deal works even if on paper talent for talent it sucks.
I understand why fans are unhappy when I 1st heard about it I was like WTF is this but I am willing to see how this plays out before losing my mind and having a complete meltdown.
Correct, unless we do it in combination with this trade. Once this trade is made official with the league office, Bledsoe can only be moved on his ownagain... im almost certain you can't combine bledsoe's deal with any of our other contracts in a non-simultaneous trade. we can move bled one for one, but not with Nurk and Ant.
Wow man what a shitty return
Shit, I think you're right but there might be a window on that where this trade becomes a three teamer. We'll just have to see. I do believe that more will happen before the deadline that will be the reason why this trade made sense to Cronin but I sincerely doubt that it will satisfy most of us even if we do end up better than we were before today because like I've been saying you can't just gift the Clippers that much talent without getting value back in return.again... im almost certain you can't combine bledsoe's deal with any of our other contracts in a non-simultaneous trade. we can move bled one for one, but not with Nurk and Ant.

Also could you all be right and cronin is a complete idiot -- very well might be but again let's wait and see.
I think everyone will still be laughing at us when all of the dust settles but they might not be laughing quite as hard. There has to be more to come but hey this trade is so shitty, I never could have imagined we would do something like it. So maybe the next 6 days will have even worse moves. Who the fuck knows, right? This trade was made to get under the tax no matter what without caring what we gave up or took in. Everyone in the r/nba fans from every team around the league is laughing at us. We did a good job making the Clippers really good though. The dark days are getting darker.
It didn't have to be. So it's a shitty return. It’s a salary dump
I recall he was a really bad GM.I haven't seen such a brilliant dealmaker since Neville Chamberlain.
And we're oh so close to being able to generate like a 9-10 million dollar one. Within like 200k. Damn. We should make them take snell. Not that we'll do anything with it, but I believe we should generate about a 6 million TPE with this deal.
to effectively tank we need to get first round picks in return from some of our assets. we couldn't even get a protected first round pick for norm and roco.. disgustingI think everyone will still be laughing at us when all of the dust settles but they might not be laughing quite as hard. There has to be more to come but hey this trade is so shitty, I never could have imagined we would do something like it. So maybe the next 6 days will have even worse moves. Clearing cap space to re-sign Anfernee this summer. I'd rather have Anfernee over Powell and Covington.
You’re forgetting the whole tank strategy.Lmao- so just give away assets for nothing? And the guys you mention are not ready for big minutes, they are 3rd stringers at best and we gave up starters to make time for them lmao. Come on this was horrible trade we got zero assets back.
You’re forgetting the whole tank strategy.
Why did he get back salary if it's a dump?It didn't have to be. So it's a shitty return.
That's not a choice that had to be made. We had bird rights on all of those dudes. I'm not saying that those guys made sense on our future roster but Powell and Covington are really good players with good contracts and value around the league. You can't just give them away, even if it was to clear space for Ant... but it can't be because the move only cleared just a little over 6M at the most.Clearing cap space to re-sign Anfernee this summer. I'd rather have Anfernee over Powell and Covington.
There is zero positive spin on this. I'm convinced Allen wanted us to be so pissed that we won't be mad when she sells the team and it gets moved.
Great theory until the end when you said “get assets” we didn’t get any unless you count the 2nd rounderSome of you are assuming we do not trade nurk and with this trade it looks like the Blazers have thrown up the white flag and said we are toast time to tank so NO reason to think the Blazers might not try and trade CJ , Nurk and Nance or others to free up money and /or get assets.
Honest question. Do you think Cronin turned down better deals for these two with such positive value so he could make the shittiest deal possible thus ruining his career as a GM? Or could there be more to it.That's your opinion.
The fact is they had positive value around the league and we didn't take advantage of that.
It's really simple. Please figure it out.
