Norm RoCo traded

It all comes down to one thing for me, can we still obtain a solid PF with what we have left without giving up Dame, Ant, Little, and Nurk.
Or was Norm and RoCo a better option to get that done and still pay Simons and Nurk?

We will still need a deep bench (i.e a defensive stopper at guard) but I can live with that starting lineup.....if we can get someone like John Collins at PF.

How many in here have ever sold a car, rv, boat, whatever and you took a loss but you were focused on that new want/need and you needed to free up some funds and make room in Garage?

yup....we got a 2nd and a 21 first rounder in Johnson.. for Roco and an expiring worth 19 mill for Norm's long 5 year deal .plus a defenisive player in Winslow.......and staying out of the repeater tax let's you turn Bledsoe money into a player in a position of need....he's not done...a carpenter doesn't fuck up a remodel just because he tears up the carpet and hasn't laid the hardwood floor yet.....come fall we'll be better...you'll see. Addition by subtraction.

Your analogies on this are fantastic.

We need to lose now.

With this trade - Mission Accomplished!

Score one for Cronin.

I'm for losing now too, but at least set us up to have a way out lol. Hopefully the next trade or two spells that out.

7 of 15 WC teams still below 500. Going to be a whole lot of talking going on.

Thought I’d feel better about this trade this morning but still don’t understand how we got ZERO assets out of this deal. I’m fine with trading Roco for scrubs but losing Powel in same deal and getting nothing back of value is absurd. This happened days before the deadline which is even more perplexing why not wait to see if someone gets desperate and throws in a 1st rounder or good prospect for Powel. Got to hope they did this deal in order to make another deal. If not this deal reaks of rookie GM and rookie coach making rookie mistake!
Jody did Balmer a favor!

Jody did Balmer a favor!
So you think Jody gave Joe, Chauncey and Dame the directive or did she swing the trade herself and tell the guys I want to give my old neighbor a favor?
I had heard numerous times that Balmer and Paul were not buddies.

I don't know, but Paul was the influence for Balmer buying the team so I don't know where you heard that.

Ive read articles over the years and several implied they were not buddies at all.
Do you still think Jody gave the directive?

I'm just going off what I've heard and it makes more sense than anything else.

The Sixers could trade Simmons and Tobias Harris right now in a multi-team deal that would bring them back primarily expiring contracts. This would give them enough cap space to outright sign Harden this offseason, but such maneuvering risks losing assets for nothing in case he changes his mind.

My memory was that they had some serious fallouts more or less due to Bill Gates, but at the end of the day, their history was long and deep enough they remained friends until he passed away.

Yeah I would hope so but I had read they were not real close.

So is it suppose to be a win for our team to give two of our very limited assets away as "a favor"? We're not in a place to doing favors to get under the cap.

If people think that's an okay justification... You're wrong.

It's the opposite of a justification.

Only 3 out of initial 9-man rotation will be playing tonight.
1 starter out for season
2 starters traded for... I'm not sure what you want to call them, but none of them will be playing tonight
3 of our 4 bench players are injured (but 1 of them sucks, anyway).

Cannot believe the shit return from this trade.

Only possible justification I could see is if Norms value was much lower than thought throughout the league and he is basically viewed by most GMs as a toxic contract that we might have to put a first round pick with to get out of in the summer.

I've now cancelled league pass and slingtv (NBATV TNT) and I'm unlikely to buy it next year until I see a roster that can win games, which seems very unlikely.

Id expect we try to win with Dame next year, it clearly fails, and he's either traded or cashes in his 60+million per year super max while this franchise is ever more irrelevant each season.
