...I'll say it again, you're a liar...and you are.

...not that you didn't already what they were asking for but THIS is is what rick and hammer asked for about 6-7 times; "Only a racist would say that black people were happy picking cotton, drinking from seperate water fountains, sitting in the back of buses & getting there food from the rear entrances of restaurants."

...can you quote Robertson as actually saying that or not?....if so, then do it...otherwise stfu.

If he had said, "I wish we had segregation still," would you be asking where he mentioned separate drinking fountains?

Unbelievable the lengths you are going to defend his racism.

Can you possibly answer a question???? and it isn't racism. you have completely and utterly failed to show he is a racist

OK, the exact quote from Phil was "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues." When did he mention civil rights? water fountains? buses? any of that? he didn't...

He could have said it a little better, but he was saying that entitlement and welfare has not made people happy... in fact, it's done the opposite... that was it...

No one was singing the blues.

Pre-entitlement (whatever that means), pre-welfare.

That would be Jim Crow South.

No other way to interpret it.

Yes, he actually said those words. "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare." Direct quote.

He did... but he didn't say pre-civil-rights... they are two entirely different things... which you are not grasping.... people were happier working for a roof over their heads and food on their tables than having it just given to you (continually)... nothing wrong with that

I have purposely stayed away from this because I have been following this thread from the beginning. For what it is worth, Denny your position on this subject, although argued passionately, falls very short when you consider the original statements of this thread. 59, Rick and Hammer have been consistent throughout, when cornered, instead of conceding the point, you go into spin cycle mode to try to re-establish your footing. And just like the character on the show your character starred, you to are to full of yourself. You lost and refuse to accept it. Are any of us here racist, bigots, etc, who knows? However, Robertson may regret saying what he said, he may not. But Corporate America has accepted it and Duck Dynasty is what it is. Now I suspect the show will open with the disclaimer we all know. " The views of the cast may not be the views, you get the point, I hope. YOU LOSE!

yup

Entitlements and welfare were civil rights.

They weren't happier, that's beyond absurd. Like holocaust denial.

I'm not grasping. The guy was in the midst of ranting about all the people he didn't like, they are all doing evil things!

Photos were from before welfare, which he did say. People in the photos were singing all right: "we shall overcome."

no one denied the photos were from then... but they weren't Phil's words... they weren't what Phil was talking about, they weren't anywhere closely related to what Phil said...

Not even close.... welfare is an entitlement, food stamps are an entitlement, Government Subsidized Housing is an entitlement, giving someone something that they didn't earn is an entitlement... and no, it doesn't mean Jim Crow era... they are separate items... how can you not see that????

actually, all you are doing is grasping... what happened (segregation) was wrong. entitlements and welfare aren't right though. At some point, someone needs to work to provide for themselves... people are happier when they work for and earn something than they are if they do nothing and just get handed stuff...

Phil NEVER said anywhere that they were happier about everything under the sun back then... he saw them singing, they were godly and they were happier...

They were what he was talking about. His use of picking cotton also is a stereotype. They were happy, singing, working the fields, with all the fried chicken and watermelon they could eat!

Again, I'm not alone in seeing his bigotry and racism.

His apologists may be even worse.

The point Denny is trying to make is that he may have known a few that were happy, content and treated fairly...but at the same time the picture he ia painting would make it appear that was the norm. I would compare it to a German say that the Jews were a happy bunch during to 40's in Germany
You just wouldn't expect anyone to say something like that as if he lived in a financial where nothing bad ever happened to them.

His own comments called himself white trash and working in the dame fields with African Americans like it was their choice to work in a heavy physically intense work atmosphere.

he literally picked cotton in the fields... so that is what he was referencing... not saying everyone was... again, you fail to prove anything

did he work in the fields with them, yes... did he call himself white trash, yes... where, though, did he say they were there (or even imply) that they were there by choice? he didn't. he never implied it, he never said it.

I don't have to try again. I'm not out to change your opinion. I'm just telling you how a portion of members felt when reading about this.

"That Anne Frank led a peaceful life hiding in the attic. " Don't you think some people would find that statement offensive?

ok, but you are chastising him for something he didn't actually say or imply... you are feeling he was offensive by your adding things into his words which weren't there...

and to clarify, you/your was referring to all of you

I never saw his show. Only saw his picture on TV a few times and paid him no mind.

So he says all these things and I see videos of him and read the words in question.

I have no agenda against him. I even tend toward conservative viewpoints on many things and can't stand most "liberals."

Yet I cannot deny what I see from him. His emphasis of selected parts of one religion's two thousand year old book with the intent to harm people who go nowhere near him, is revolting.

I'm going to heaven and you're not because you take being evil to new heights. I'm superior to you!

The racism is not even subtle.

First bolded item is a complete and bold faced lie...

the second bolded item is an entirely new ball of crap that you just made up... he wants to hurt people now? where the hell did you get that? what on earth are you smoking??? The first underlined item... You tend toward conservative viewpoints? again, that is a load of crap... the second underlined point... you know what, you are right... it's not even subtle because IT IS NOT EVEN THERE

Because you say so?

I saw him on YouTube saying the most hateful things. You were dared to go view it. Your loss.

Phil Robertson:

“Women with women. Men with men,” he said at one point (at 18:25 in the video below). “They committed indecent acts with one another, and they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions.

“They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant God-haters. They are heartless. They are faithless. They are senseless. They are truthless. They invent ways of doing evil.”

Indefensible.

ok, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with what he said. He called it what it is... a sin. PERIOD... it is wrong, not indefensible...

what's indefensible are your twisted views

At least A&E finally have put this amazingly awesome man back on the air... finally a decent decision from the network

To arms! They're full of murder!

Indefensible.

ok Vizzini... he didn't call anyone to arms or say anyone should be put to death... as usual, you are putting words and thoughts in his mouth/head. and yes, they're full of murder wasn't talking about homosexuals or any race...

Romans 1:18-32:
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

So, the bolded section shows that he was saying that he was talking about murderers, not homosexuals or a specific race... The underlined section is one of MANY sections that show homosexuality as a sin... but keep those blinders on son
