When was the last time you witnessed gay sex?

If you are making assumptions, then I am right that the "procreating from behind" thing is rather silly on your part.

Me? I don't know what gay or straight people do in the privacy of their own homes, nor do I care. As long as they both consent and nobody's getting physically hurt.

Nobody is saying he has no right to whatever opinions he has, or even to speak up on them. With FREE SPEECH comes consequences, though. If you yell "fire!" in a crowded theatre, you may be responsible for people getting trampled, or if you slander someone you can get sued in civil court for it.

His honest opinions are bigoted and racist and A&E should have no part of him for it if they do not share the same views. If those people his venom is directed at feel slighted, they have 1st amendment rights to say so, whether it makes people "sick and tired of this type of thing."

If A&E doesn't want him but some televangelist is willing to put him on the air, so be it.

If the government shuts down his show, tells GQ to remove the article/interview with him, denounces his church, etc., then it's a 1st amendment violation. A&E is not bound by the 1st to give anyone air time to say anything at all.

Ionically, A&E had a big hit with their Bible mini-series. They don't seem unfriendly toward religion (nor am I, really), but they do take exception to Robertson's brand.

Denny since you've taken this topic WAY over the top this will be my final word post on this subject.

Unless you've lived under a rock all these years I think my assumption of how gay men have sex is pretty safe. Besides my wife dragged to see Broke back mountain several years back. So lets not kid ourselves.

On that note, I wish you & yours a very happy & safe holiday.

I've been told by one gay man that he and his partner do not do the anal sex thing. So I wouldn't assume much about what people do. Nor do I care to :)

It may dawn on you at some point that the "hero" of a TV show with 10M audience might just be able to influence his fans by what he says, and what he said isn't healthy.

Imagine if people were allowed to say mean spirited things about blacks, gays, jews, or whoever, while those who normally stand up to the hate speech somehow were kept silent. It's happened before.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

"They're full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, god haters, they are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless, they invent ways of doing evil!"

How is this guy not a bigot? Imagine if someone said the same thing about some other minority group. It is shocking that he has defenders.

Thank you Al Sharpton.

Apparently Cracker Barrel Restaurants don't see the offense. They have instructed their stores to put Duck products back on shelf after pulling them on Friday. So they must be bigots too lol.

...yup, and isn't it amazing how things work?...it's also quite possible that this whole thing was a calculated publicity stunt with A & E and the Ducks as the beneficiaries.

...but denny's classic self mutilation and verbal gymnastics were fun to watch...well sort of.

Indefensible.

Indeed.

Here is the clip. Go to around minutes 17 and 18. This guy is a disgrace. Anyone who defends him is just as big a disgrace.

As for the Cracker Barrel, what do you expect when their typical customer is a bigoted yokel? It is hypocritical that the same people calling for Martin Bashir to be fired are the ones who are defending a bigot.

Ok, with a 127 post and counting, what have we come to learn from this exercise? Anyone!

A good discussion will encourage new people to register and post on the website?

...^^^or some of the same people lamely creating new names with hopes of bolstering their argument?

^^^^ more accurate, there was in my opinion, no new blood on this topic, nor was there any blood spilled in the making of this thread.

Its worth repeating what I said earlier, since being honest & voicing one's opinion seems to have such a large negative effect on the overly sensitive. All interviewers going forward before asking the tough question, "Sir/mam, I need to ask your opinion on something BUT........if your HONEST response is going to offend anyone, I'd rather you lie to save any hurt feelings". I mean holy shit you can't say boo anymore without someone or some group getting offended.

People need to come down off those self righteous high horses they've perched themselves upon & lighten the fuck up.

YOKEL? I do believe that is a VERY contemptuous term. Ladies & gentlemen I believe what we have here with this poster snake plissken is a 100% died in the wool BIG-GOT! And perhaps you should be BANNED from this board.

You're a bit macabre.

I for one enjoy a good discussion, even more so a spirited debate, and like in a debate, precise and consistent rebuttal usually prevails.

Sure. And anyone that can hang with Denny for a dozen replies has a place on this website. He's crushed me more times than I care to count.

I tip my hat to all the posters of this thread. A difficult subject that was discussed with spirit and respect. To many more, I think this may be one of the most viewed and posted topics in this forum, ironically, it had nothing to do with the Yankees, lol.

Though not quite at my level I did enjoy the give & take in this thread & to the few that I may have embarrassed, offended or made cry you have my sincere holiday apologies. But hey, you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Haha, It's good to have you back Rick.

All I'm going to say on this topic is this....he couldn't have been that ignorant with his comments that the African Americans were happy that they were singing in the fields and think everything in the world was fine....even years later when he became rich and famous...that is like someone saying..you know those Jews were a happy bunch during to 40's in Germany. .even if you never saw a death camp in person you have to know by now how horrible and immoral it was and is. Only a person who doesn't feel another person of color can make statements like that.

...like I said, I have never watched a minute of the show but just reading some of the quotes and bits and pieces, I think when he made the comments about blacks being "happy in the fields, etc.", maybe he was referring to them being happy at that time. What I'm getting at is that at the time, blacks didn't know what freedom was. Most had been born into slavery and had never known freedom, so therefore, had nothing to compare it to. They were by design, kept down and kept ignorant and uneducated and in servitude. So yeah, maybe in a way, at the time, some were relatively happy. Again, I don't know this for a fact, just speculating on what Phil may have actually meant.

...what I do know is that after all these years, I'm tired of having the slavery subject still thrown in my face and wielded like a weapon so often. As far as i know, slavery was abolished 150 years ago and the equal rights bill was passed 50 years ago. I think it's way past the time to stop playing the race card on so many issues.

Part two of your above post. +1

BigDaddyAl got it right. But most of the people alive in the 1950s were not likely born into slavery or even to former slaves.

About the 2nd paragraph - we've come a long long way in the past 50 years, which is great. It's a work in progress, though, and we're not done making this country fair or people wouldn't be complaining.

Unfortunately Denny there are also those people who complain just for the sake of complaining because its the only way to get attention. I refer to the Al Sharpton's of the world.

You can pass hundreds of laws it doesn't always change the mindset of a person and their views. I understand some resentment when hearing people say the are tired from hearing someone play the race card....but it is still out there..especially among conservative bible belt regions of America. I've seen if first hand with my own family. I won't get into the details that makes me sick talking about it but their are members of my own family who have bad racist opinions.

Unfortunately Al I think the thing that irks people the most is that the race card for the most part is used now more as an excuse for one's actions & life style instead of circumstances based on actual facts that apply today.

About 20 years ago I got into a discussion with a group of people & at one point this black guy to make a point told me that I owed him. When I asked him why he said "because of slavery". I quickly & very politely said to him, "perhaps my great grandfather owes your great grandfather something but I owe you shit".

My point is that we've come a long in this country just during my lifetime & granted we still have a ways to go. But IMO there's just no place in today's society to pull the race card every time something doesn't go your way.
