Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Denny would be pissed, he wanted to trade those two guys for LMA.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

5 bucks says Boozer ends up in Miami if amnestied.

Boozer as a Blazer is interesting, because it'd help the bench a ton. But I doubt he'd accept that role. And I don't think they have the space for him (vet min it'd have to be..don't be selfish booz!). They'd have to waive/trade someone though.

I would love to pick up boozer off amnesty! He is exactly the type of player you want coming off your bench!

I'll take that bet all day for $5k.

There is no chance Boozer would clear amnesty waivers, a team under the cap would claim him.

Amnesties can only happen in July so its an odd article to come out today.

don't they have to pay him what he's making?

nope, I had that wrong. It lessens the amount that the waiving team plays.

Who is under that cap that much? He's making something like 14 million this year.

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

I think you guys are misunderstanding how the amnesty works. He will be a free agent. It's not like waiving him. His contract is essentially terminated, but he still makes the money. Think of Brandon Roy. We amnestied him and he was free to sign a contract with the TWolves. Any team could sign Boozer if the Bulls amnesty him for any price.

not true. teams under the cap get first crack at him. If he clears that, anyone can sign him

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

No Andre to Ptd. We already have a mentor for a PG in Watson and Miller would be upset (maybe rightful so) if Mo gets more minutes than him. Nothing against Miller, but I think there is significant risk that he will mess up the chemistry going on here.

Incorrect. Travis Outlaw was amnestied and the Kings bid on him.

Former Nets forward Travis Outlaw was amnestied a few days ago, but he didn’t go unclaimed for long, as Yahoo!‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Outlaw has been scooped up by Sacramento: “The Sacramento Kings have been awarded former New Jersey Nets forward Travis Outlaw after placing the highest bid in the NBA’s amnesty waiver process, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. After Nets coach Avery Johnson pushed for his signing a year ago, Outlaw received a five-year, $35 million free-agent deal, but never delivered the type of production that warranted the contract. New Jersey used the amnesty clause to waive him. Outlaw, 27, averaged 9.2 points and four rebounds a game for the Nets last season. The Kings are Outlaw’s fourth team of his nine-year career. After joining the NBA straight from high school, he spent most of his first seven seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, who made him the 23rd pick in the 2003 draft. Outlaw fractured his right wrist doing boxing training during the lockout.”

The kings got him for a bid of 4 years 12 million

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

• The Magic will be down a guard as they began a five-game road trip. Ronnie Price did not accompany the team because doctors advised him not to fly because of a sinus infection.

• Sixers rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams is expected to start against the Timberwolves. In last Saturday's win at Portland, Carter-Williams was inadvertently hit in the head by forward Thaddeus Young in the closing seconds. But all concussion testing came up negative.

• Young was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Dec. 30, 2013-Jan. 5. Young led the Sixers to a 3-0 record and he averaged 25.0 points per game. "I think it's a statement for Thaddeus," Brown said.

Because of our game, Thaddeus won an award, and bumped off a rival.

Minny destroyed Philly tonight: 126-95

The Blazers did the Wolves a favor by giving the 76ers false confidence!

You're welcome T-wolves!

No you don't understand how amnesty works. Teams under the cap can bid on him and they only have to pay the veteran minimum. The team that submits the highest bid gets Boozer. Its similar to Chauncy Billups, he was amnesties with a $15 million contract from the Knicks; the Clippers were the highest bidder and claimed him for $2 million.

If amnestied, Boozer will not be a free agent, he will be claimed off amnesty waivers.

Who is even under the cap right now?

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

What is the Blazers cap figure like right now?

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

I am interested in specifics. What team under the cap doesn't want to tank?

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

Jazz are going to beat the Thunder! Gordon Hayward with 37 points on 16 field goal attempts. That's insane.

BNM

Re: OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread

damn!

Gordon Hayward is going OFF tonight!

35 points on 15 shots.

He's 12-15 (you read that right), and now is 13-16.

And has 9-13 FT's.

11 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals and a block.

Scored Utahs last 17 points too!

Come on, son!

And he lead his team to the win too.

4. Tuesday's Worst
Thaddeus Young, Sixers:
The reigning Eastern Conference player of the week clearly could not see past all the bouquets being tossed his way. Young missed all seven of his shots and didn't score in 22 minutes of a 111-93 rout by the Cavs.

Yes, Young recorded zero points and 4 rebounds in 22 minutes of play before being yanked in a blow out loss.
