Brown met supermax criteria and nobody else that has is eligible for an extension right now.

If Dame/Giannis/Jokic/etc hadn't signed extensions recently they could've got a similar huge deal.

It's really 35% of the cap - the actual dollars could be higher or lower in a few years. Same as Dame's last two years, the actual dollar amount isn't finalized until those seasons. The agents just leak the biggest number that is possible if the cap goes up basically the most it can.
 
So it looks like the next two expansion teams will be KD owned Sonics and Lebron owned Vegas franchise.

This needs addressed. I mentioned tbis before. If a player who signed a supermax requested and is eventually traded, their salary is adjusted/lowered. If traded by team's choise w/o the player requesting, his contract remains intact.

Much like if you were fired you get severance pay, but if you quit you don't
 
I think the team that trades for the supermax demanding out be dealt punishment as well: Said player cannot play in post-season until the season after the trade. This would stop guys demanding out win an "easy" ring and teams like MIA from lowballing.

It's timing. Blame it on a quirk of the CBA. Obviously, JB isn't the most talented player in the NBA. At one point back in the 90s Kenyon Martin signed the biggest deal ever.
