That's your personal assessment of Grant. 30 teams aren't run the same way. The type of team that wants Grant would see him as a key team USA level contributor that could be a very nice starter and help on both offense and defense. A player that is versatile enough to slot in with many types of teammates, though not an elite player, but good on both ends.Grant is 30 years old and will turn 31 next season, He's a 10 year veteran, and in those 10 years he has established some benchmarks other teams can clearly see:
* he can average 20-21 points on a bad team; and 13-14 points on a good team
* he will only average 4-5 rebounds and 2-3 assists
* he has dramatically improved his 3pt shooting but plays below average defense with questionable versatility
* he has 4 years left on his deal at 33M/year; meaning he would need to start to justify that salary
I think those 'attributes' significantly limits his market. A team would have to believe he could start and average 15-16 points while spreading the floor for their 'stars'. And that team would have to overlook his poor rebounding, mediocre passing, and average, at best, defense. All that while being willing to absorb 33M/year
and of course be willing to meet Cronin's alleged two-first-round-picks price. Meaning, Grant will probably still be a Blazer heading into the trade deadline in 2027
First of all, Emirates and Saudi Arabia are different countries. Essentially, you are equating Mexico to the US.Crazy the NBA has Emirates as a sponsor. Next thing will be the Saudi fund buying an expansion team.

Expiring contract doesn't really garner much draft capital since he could just walk the next year. Grant is locked up for much longer on this contract so teams would be more willing to spend more if they think he's the missing piece.28 year old Jerami Grant on a 20M expiring salary after averaging 22 points and 4.6 rebounds was traded for a TPE and a lightly protected 2025 first from Milwaukee that was almost certainly going to be in the 20's. Is 30 year old Grant on a 4 year deal of 33M/year really worth more draft consideration after averaging 21 points and 3.5 rebounds?

maybe, maybe not
but again, all the Pistons got was that 2025 first and a TPE. They didn't get any talent. There won't be any 30M TPE traded for Grant. For instance, besides draft picks, the Lakers would have had to also send talent like Russell, Hachimura, Vanderbilt. That would make them less likely to send out good draft consideraytion

I just don't think you are giving him enough credit. he is a good defensive player that guards 1-5. He can score from anywhere on the court and can create his own shot. He also is wiling to play behind another player as a second or third option. Last his contract has greatly improved after this new TV contract and he is locked into it.unless it's a contract for an absolute star who is on the youngish side, or the beginning of a rookie scale deal, I'd be surprised if any team really wants a player with 4 years left on a contract. That length of contract tends to limit options and flexibility and the NBA doesn't seem to value static rosters
Grant is a wing with length; he has some 3&D and 2-way value although his defense is may not be good enough for either designation. I'd assume he has quite a bit higher trade value than Ant because of those attributes; Ant doesn't have any of them. But the difference in contract duration probably levels their respective values. Grant's rebounding, or lack of, is certain to have been noticed too
That was kind of my point when I posted my original post on this. He's a solid player that can stick around a couple years on a decent contract that is getting better by the day.Expiring contract doesn't really garner much draft capital since he could just walk the next year. IMO someone will need what he brings. There will be a team that is going to make the playoffs but needs something or a team will be dealing with an injury and he is the perfect insurance policy.
Sugar will do that to you.ok...I take it all back
I'm sure Grant will be traded soon because several teams will be willing to pay Cronin's price. After all, so far this off-season there hasn't been any movement or transactions yet involving wings...you know, other than Alec Burks, Josh Green, Buddy Heild, Kyle Anderson, Klay Thompson, Mikal Bridges, Bojan Bogdanovich, Dejonte Murray, Larry Nance, Dyson Daniels, Avdija, Tim Hardaway Jr., Naji Marshall, Demar DeRozan, Caleb Martin, Royce O'Neal, KCP, Kelly Oubre, Harrison Barnes, Chris Duarte, Tobias Harris, Taurean Prince, Derrick Jones, Nic Batum, Paul Reed, Mailk Beasely.
the market is wide open obviously
sorry kjiro...I had a sugar rush of smart ass

Pistons had an agreement they would send Grant to team of his choice in a trade. That was the Blazers because of Dame. Grant was never shopped for value.maybe, maybe not

Woah calm down there... I said it's crazy not bad so no need to insult me or call names. I was just surprised the NBA had some big middle east sponsor. Yeah Saudi fund invests in everything and more recently sports - see PGA golf.First of all, Emirates and Saudi Arabia are different countries. Essentially, you are equating Mexico to the US.
Second, Saudis are heavily invested in a bunch of American business interests and I don't see the need to blow a dog whistle for every one.
One of the largest airlines in the world is sponsoring. So fucking what? Your xenophobia is unnecessary.
Portland doesn't want old playersok...I take it all back

Fan vote is only 50% of the overall All Star vote. Only way Bronny makes it is if players and media vote for him too.the voting for All-Stars gets WEIRD. The gazillion LeBron fans will automatically click Bronny too. The only way to prevent Bronny from stealing an All-Star spot from more deserving players is keeping him off the ballot.
All-Star weekend is supposed to be a much needed week off for NBA players. I could see players voting for Bronny, just to prove a point. There's vets that need to rest their bones. Let the kids run around and do All-Star stuff, while we watch the tube and sleep on the sofa.Fan vote is only 50% of the overall All Star vote. It will probably make SNL if Bronny makes the all star team this coming season. If he makes the all star team this coming season, it won't be because he earned it.
