WTF? And the Blazers are still not for sale right?

I love Jaylen's game, absolutely love it but Tatum is the best player on that team, he is a far better offensive weapon and he just doesn't give up enough more on defense to make up that difference. Kidd was very obviously just trying to stir the pot. They are both great and Jaylen deserved the Finals MVP, I just think that the vast majority of the NBA watching world is correct in the assessment that Tatum is better. It's funny how Jaylen Brown got his extension first to become the highest paid player ever, and people suddenly took it for granted that he's the best player on the Celtics. Kidd said it during the playoffs, and whoever does the voting somewhat inexplicably agreed by awarding Brown Finals MVP. Will Tatum be considered their best player again next year, now that he got a bigger extension?

Yeah, so you're the kind of person that wants to give the best player on the team who got beat in 5 games the MVP instead of someone on the team that won. Okay... cool deal.I disagree with that part. He had a few highlight dunks and blocks (but so did Tatum), but Holiday and White were consistently higher impact, and Porzingis and Tatum had much better individual games (1 and 5, respectively). It was a 3- or 4-way tie, and I believe the nod went to Brown because the narrative has been that he's their best player since signing the extension. Regardless, the MVP was, without a doubt, Doncic. He had five elite 2-way players focused on him on both ends of the court, and he still managed to be the best player out there for most of his minutes. It should have been a ballsier pick, either going to the loser or split among winners.

Calling a player on a team who lost 4 of 5 games "most valuable" raises the question--if his team didn't win, how much value was there, really? Most Valuable Player. It's a pretty easy call by the name of the award.
I also said it's that or split the award among three or four of the winners, but you conveniently left that out.
I happen to agree with you. No question Luka was the most valuable player to his team. Just because he didn’t have near the talent around him doesn’t erase that fact. Yes they lost in five but Luka kept them from getting blown out in four games. Most Valuable Player. It's a pretty easy call by the name of the award.

Now there is plenty to be said for what both Brown and Tatum did. There is also plenty for Holiday to claim.
The team and players that win should get that credit.
But it's not a "playoff" MVP award--it's specifically the finals. And in the finals, specifically, Luka's "value" only contributed to one victory. How much he did to get them there is irrelevant. They 100% wouldn't have been there without Luka, which you can't make a good case for with any single Celtic. I understand the reasons for not giving the award to a losing player, but this series was so extreme in that respect, it was well warranted.
Yeah, that’s why it’s called the Finals MVP lolBut it's not a "playoff" MVP award--it's specifically the finals. And in the finals, specifically, Luka's "value" only contributed to one victory. How much he did to get them there is irrelevant.

Lakers MagicYou took the wording too literally and missed the overall point. Dallas is not remotely competitive without Luka. Boston is likely still the best team in the league without any one of their starters, including Brown.
I doubt there have been many Finals with such a disparity between teams in that regard, so precedent of the losing team hardly ever getting MVP isn't really relevant.

So LBJ just signed his max, does that mean a trade is their only way to improve now?
