That’s how you do it. Not this half assed shit the Blazers have done.

Cronin has been awful at tanking with this mix of vets

Didn't the Nets half-ass it last year? They only did it this year because Bridges was going to force himself to NY

Ian Begley @IanBegley
Nets surely didn’t want to trade Mikal Bridges to NYK but Bridges’ side was prepared to force the issue by telling teams he wanted to be w/NYK, per SNY sources. Bridges’ side made it clear to BKN that he wanted to be w/NYK, reunite w/Villanova teammates Brunson, Hart, DiVincenz

Much younger and much more of a 2-way player. Not surprising he went for more. Surprising at how MUCH more.

Right. NY got their first taste of success in YEARS. And decided to push their chips all the way in.

Half the salary as well. Teams had 3 months to make that kind of offer for Dame but couldn't or wouldn't.

Woj reposts his KD to Houston rumor every half hour

you better win the title with all that value going out. and they're gonna be in cap hell for a decade.
You been here long enough to know better than this. Cap Hell doesn't happen to large market teams. Every time the Lakers make a move like this someone says the same thing. They always get bailed out somehow.

You would not be saying that If they got Wemby or this years FRP. If he gets next years FRP you will also have to rethink this statement.

Now that Bridges is traded to NY for shit load of picks how about Ant to Nets? Not sure what combo of players but I’d be happy to take a couple of those draft picks

It bears pointing out that, despite the huge haul of picks the Nets got for Bridges, they're not much better than a bunch of 2nd rounders. NY, Milwaukee, Dallas, and Phoenix don't figure to be out of the playoffs for a few years, so you're hoping to get lucky with health or premature rebuilds there. The picks at the tail end of the deal, who knows.

They wouldn’t want him. They’re full tanking now.

I'm sure the Nets would be happy to (finally) offer us Ben Simmons, though.

sold…. Jk I always thought he’d come back to the player he once was. Talk about a waste of talent. He’s still a tremendous defender, I hate to admit it but I would consider it

It will be interesting to see where Ben ends up. He has a 40 million ending contract. So there will be some interested contenders who will take a chance on him this summer or maybe at the deadline. (To see if he is still healthy) The return for the Nets will be minimal, but he could be a big piece for a contender.

But what contender has the matching salary to take that chance? He could be a big piece, but a huge risk, meanwhile you'd have to move a big piece to land him.

Not many. But possibly someone like the Warriors. They might think they are contenders if they moved Chris Paul and filler (i.e Payton) at the deadline.

Depending on what shakes out with Klay, I believe they would have trade restrictions because of the new CBA, meaning they'd be unlikely to be able to aggregate salaries, and unable to take in more than they send out.

When have the Lakers had a massive payroll? Their owners aren't uber wealthy like many other NBA franchises.

The Warriors are in cap hell now as well as the Clippers - both large market teams. Both paid massive luxury tax for 0 playoff series wins and now risk having hall of famers walk for nothing. The new CBA is changing a lot of the previous big market spending teams.

It will likely happen to NY eventually - but they have 2 years of Brunson/Bridges on underpaid contracts then 2 years paying repeater tax before they will likely have to tear it all down and rebuild.

Your likely right for 2025... but 3 years is a long time in the NBA so we don't really know with 2027. The 2029, 2031, picks and 2028 swaps all 3 completely unprotected could be worth a ton though. Thats how the Celtics got Tatum and Brown.

NY will have so much pressure to win the next 4 years they are unlikely to have young players with upside. By then all of their core will be over 30, declined performance, and/or more likely to be injured.

It's one of the best pick hauls ever received in a trade. Certainly the best for a player that has never been an allstar.

I highly doubt any contender will be interested in Simmons... they would have to send out a huge salary and based on the last 4 years its extremely unlikely Ben gives them more production than what they already would have.

Might be a buyout guy at the trade deadline, though new CBA doesn't let teams like Phoenix sign him. Then he would be an MLE target next summer.
