Wow, that reminded me a lot of Ralph Miller's offense at Oregon State. Which makes sense, since Miller played from 1937-41.

Check out how high Miller is in the basketball coaching tree.

I first ready Danny in the bottom left as Danny Marang from the stupid PDX sports talk shows and was in shock LMAO.

And they only made it into the 2nd round, then in 08 they didn't make the playoffs.
It's funny kind of. They won 42 games 2006-07 and made the semis. The next year they won 48 games and didn't make the playoffs. For 12 years prior they didn't make the playoffs and for 5 years after until 2012-13 they didn't make the playoffs.
That one year in 2007 was an anomaly if I ever seen one. No they were not awesome. More lucky than awesome. Monta Ellis wasn't even a starter to begin that year.

When Mitchell got injured Cleveland slim chances were basically none.

Not sure what else could be expected.

Another franchise that doesn't get it...

Cleveland still thinks they're championship team, even though their champions play for different teams. LeBron would have 10 rings if he wasn't dragging that sorry Cavs franchise in & out of the cellar.

The Warriors amount is crazy - $177 million of tax on top of $206 million payroll for $383 million total. All for a team that was in the lottery, and for being so old was pretty healthy compared to many prior seasons.

I expect the Warriors pocket all of the savings from the CP3 contract as well as being frugal on Klay extension or possibly letting him walk. They have minority owners that are putting pressure on the team to reduce tax if they are not winning titles. Even if they spent big there's just no way for them to realistically contend next season, and now they have control of all their own picks in a loaded draft. Might even see them explore flipping vets for youth at some point. I can't imagine seeing Steph in another uniform, but if the franchise can get a couple great picks like us for Lillard don't they need to consider it?

Clippers are another one, are they going to hand out massive deals to Harden/George? If so they're deep in the tax again and pretty unlikely to contend. If not they will take a step back in wins the first year in their new arena and don't get their picks for many seasons.

Bucks and Celtics are probably the two most relevant to the Blazers as we own both their unprotected 2029 picks and Bucks unprotected swaps (why does that sound so dirty?) in 2028, 2030. I'm hoping they both continue to contend the next few years with huge payrolls and maybe some in the repeater tax. Then they are eventually forced to cut payroll while they have little youth and stuck with much less win now talent. Hopefully that causes them to really be in a bind where bottoming out in ~2029 is unavoidable. This is similar to when the Nets couldn't' do anything except give away unprotected #3 picks two years in a row with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

Down in LA at the big barn Alley-Oop sports facility. 95 teams for the Southern Cali Spring Tournament.
These kids don’t look like normal high school kids.

Well the kids are doing well. Better than I expected for sure. They are 2-1 so far and made it into the championship rounds. Doesn’t matter at all what happens from here out. Great learning experience for them all. That first loss came the first game after getting to the airport at 330am and flying to LA and then getting checked plus rental car. Then their first game was 5pm. Needless to say shots didn’t fall and they all learned about tired legs from travel. Since that game they have played very well even though they have been playing small. They are seeing teams with multiple players at 6-8.
Gonna be a long day tomorrow we fly out around 10.

How could a guy that has never coached a day in his life be compared to a GOAT in terms of potential?
