Agreed. I don't think anyone wants to pay him 1 mil for any position. Unless he's got some hidden shooting abilities that just haven't been on display in actual games I don't see the upside of him...He not a threat, he misses as many passes it seems against the ones he makes like that...he just ends up a 'break even' guy. Teams want 'positive' players who bring more than they take away at the given position. You could pit CJ off the bench against Rubio right now and likely get better +/-

Ricki Rubio arrested for having no outside game whatever!

Anyone notice that Caron Butler always looks like he's chewing 3 pieces of gum at a time. Maybe he takes big league chew?

Really? Are you saying you would rather have CJ running the point than Rubio?

Rubio's problems aren't turnovers. His problem is he shoots 37%, can't finish around the rim and other teams don't feel the need to really guard him. But his ball handling and passing are above average to excellent and he will land a multi-million dollar contract when his time comes, IMO.

Man Spurs getting hosed by the Refs at OKC. Probably the most annoying thing in the NBA is when they call a ticky tack foul at one end, go down the court and the same if not worse foul occurs with no call. It's just blatantly ridiculous.

Used to be straws he would chew. I think the league made him give it up though.

Doubt Pop caredmuch for this game. Am thinking he wanted the streak over with, and also didn't care to go all out against potential WCFs matchup.

I had to think about this for a bit...as of right now...I think I'd take CJ. The development potential for both is there...but CJ is a gifted scorer already who could get even better + develop better ball control (seriously, he needs to go study Dames dribbling workout vids). Rubio is real solid ball handler but even with practice and development is only going to improve his shooting to what...12 foot or so @ 40-45%? I dont think he ever gets the 3ball in his toolbox as a comfortable shot. CJ is also a LOT more crafty around the rim/above the rim. ...i mean this ( ) is the extent of Rubio's throw-down abilities.

I guess you were being serious. I'm not sure how there development potential is the same as one is veteran looking to stay in the league each year for the vet's min. The other is on a rookie contract and will likely be pursued when he becomes a restricted free agent.

But you have my curiosity peak, I would like to see Rubio v Watson match up. Wouldn't pay money for it but would watch it to see which one of our analysis is correct.

You know how many people on this board would complain about pau being soft? Nearly every one.

Guys always get paid on the premise of their potential. I don't think anybody doubts Rubio will get a big contract. That doesn't mean he'll ever be anything more than he is. I don't think we need to list examples of this because there are so, so, so many.

Rubio is a tantalizing player. If he could shoot 44%, he'd be pretty damn solid. But until he does that, while he does good things on the floor, his lack of shooting ability offsets many of the good things he does on the floor. What good is it to be a good passer with good visibility if the other team can allow their defense to cheat because the PG can't shoot for shit? People throw out Jason Kidd, but Rubio makes Kidd look like a good shooter.

That being said, I don't know what we have in CJ yet. But would I rather have CJ than Rubio? For our team as it is constructed, yes. Especially when we have a better PG , albeit a very different type of PG on our roster. I still think Rubio would be a better player if he were on a team whose star player wasn't a black hole PF that shoots from anywhere and everywhere. If Minnesota is able to obtain more offensive star power around Rubio, I could see him benefitting greatly, and it making him look like he's a much better player than he really is.

I like CJ, but I would definitely take Rubio over CJ right now. I think Rubio would be awesome as a backup point guard, but I don't think he'll ever go for that kind of role. He'd be great with our second unit though. Can you imagine Rubio with Barton and Robinson?

I think you're right -- Rubio would not go for a backup role, or backup salary. That's one reason why I'd stick with CJ.

I'd rather have Mo Williams at back-up PG for this roster. Rubio can't create his own shot, and the Blazer bench isn't exactly full of scoring threats.

Well, (in imaginary trade land) if we acquired Rubio I would try to add another scorer off the bench to fill that void left by Mo.

Feltwin just hit a go ahead three with under a minute to play.

Gorgui Dieng is finally getting PT and kicking ass! I SAID we should have drafted him!

(Of course, I also said that about Dennis Schroeder.)

I also said it about Andre Roberson, another guy who's finally getting minutes late in the season, and seems to be helping the Thunder. Kind of odd that they're starting him at SG, when he can't shoot at all (can he?) But there aren't any shots after Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka get theirs, I suppose.
