So I guess ill start taking apologies tomorrow from all the people who mercilessly mocked me, called me stupid, said I was not a true fan, etc for saying Portland was not a true contender this year and Indiana was.

Just cause some refuse to see reality, doesn't make another poster a troll

You mean the same Indiana team that was about 3 minutes away from losing to Atlanta? The team that had troubles with Washington at times? The team that has played 1 complete game against a quality opponent?

If we're taking one game into the equation, which it is. Then a LOT of teams have had 1 good game against good competition.

You'll need to set some more definitive parameters before calling Indiana a contender that is rightfully supposed to be there, because the way they have been playing has been saying anything but.

However, I think most here will agree that Portland was not a contender, myself included. I know you're going to bring the KS thread in here... but most people were thrilled to just get past the first round and see some growth. I don't know why we need the told you so when we already told ourselves so.

Remember when like 3 of us spoke for everyone?

Yeah, me either.

I think after being berated over it for so long, people need that "fuck you" post

Fair enough.

However, I think the homers got some flack as well. It really did go both ways. That's how most forums go. Homers get flack, the "pessimistic homers" get flack, too. I do see what you're saying, though.

My parameters are that they are in the conference finals

Making the conference Finals in the east hardly took an effort. The Pacers took games off against Atlanta and still won. There's a difference in competition from the east to the west. I haven't been impressed by anything Indiana has done, and making the conference finals, to me, isn't that much of an accomplishment in the east.

In general, that is my parameter. If your team makes it to the conference finals, you were some kind of contender. If not, you are an also ran like everyone else

So we didn't win a first round championship? I liked the sound of that.

Good thing we just extended Terry "Stand Pat" Stotts!

I know you do comedy as a side gig, is this suppose to be a joke?

The one year you could not be more wrong about the Blazers . . . you know where you argue every year that they will be nothing more than a first round playoff loser if they don't accept that they need to rebuild through the draft. That the Blazers were in the worst position possible, a medicore team with no hope of a high draft pick but no hope of getting out of the first round. The Blazers took that theory and turned it upside down. And you want apologies because you said Blazers aren't true contenders?

Forest from the trees thing . . . overall you were way off about the Blazers this year (guessing you are probably happy you were wrong), but now to come here with your "realist" perspective and claim you were right this season . . . got to be a joke right?

I'm sitting here wondering what the hell Mediocre_Man is whining about. He was negative last summer, he was negative during the season, and now he's the victim? Because the Blazers didn't make the WCF, he was right that the team should have been torn apart last summer? I'm wondering what sort of mindset then asks for apologies. If he had it his way, the team would have been blown up, and probably sitting with Utah and Sacramento as crappy teams.

Also, he does comedy? What's the act? An angrier, more pessimistic version of Louis C. K.?

But 6 of the 8 teams in the east are also rans before they even entered the playoffs. If Indiana makes the FINALS, then i'd say they are contenders, it's just way too damn easy to make it to the conference finals in the east... considering they didn't even have to meet the Heat until the ECF.

Indiana clearly took games off because they didn't have a challenge. If they were to take a night off against the SA spurs, they'd get run out of the series just like we did.

I understand the parameters, but the eastern conference doesn't lend itself to those... In the east, there's 2 teams.. in the west, there's 6-8. It's not a fair comparison to say you're a contender in the east when the only other competition is someone you'll face in the ECF. That's just how I see it.

Exactly what did Joerger do, other than lose more games, and exit the playoffs earlier, than Lionel Hollins? Last year's Grizzlies made the WCF. This year they were a 7th seed.

:dunno:

Since Memphis went from the WCF last year to a 7th seed first-round loser this year, does that mean that team should rebuild? How about the Rockets? They lost to a non-contender this year in the Blazers, so clearly the Rockets aren't a contender, either. Should they blow up the team?

Or, more likely, is it much easier to try and justify stupid predictions and stupid posts after the fact, and try to make it seem that you're the victim who was right all along?

Joerger made the horrible coaching decision of injuring Marc Gasol. What a fucking bad coach to decide to have his best player miss 23 games!

Gasol was healthy for the playoffs. They lost in the first round to the Clippers, who also aren't a contender. :dunno:

Maybe we can get into the top 3 next year if we trade LMA and lillard. Get it done kpee!
