I have no clue why Fisch would take the Washington job. His Arizona team will be better next year, he'll have an easier path to the playoff (top 4 seed), and is going to be the favorite if/when Florida's job comes open.

I hope he doesn't.

Agreed... he's a great coach.

Going to be very interesting how the new coach is able to put together a roster last minute. Dan did a near masterful job during the Mario transition two years ago, but I think Washington is going to have a more difficult time in the short-term.

Are we scared of Pete Carroll if that's the hire? I really am not. He has been out of college for so long. He's ancient. I don't see him immediately coming in and turning things back around.

I'd rather them hire Pete than Jedd.

In a perfect world, they'd hire Justin Wilcox.

Looks like Jedd is signing an extension.
I've seen reports five minutes from each other saying he's staying and he'll take the Washington job if offered. I haven't taken the time to dig into the credibility of either report. These coaching searches combined with retweets > accuracy makes it hard for me to determine what is real and what isn't.

One day Lanning was Alabama's #1 target and in Tuscaloosa working on a deal. Two days later, Aaron Fentress is all jacked out of shape that people think Lanning was even considered for the job.

Fentress is a giant lump of bombastic shit. But he's smart enough, or somebody around him is smart enough, to know that the longstanding Oregonian/OLive business model of bashing all things about the UofO will generate clicks; enjoyment and glee from OSU folks and outrage from Ducks (same model used by Dwight Jaynes-->Canzano-->Ken Goe-->Nick Dashel)

also, he's been called out so often for his anti-Oregon horseshit by Joey Harrington, Anthony Neuman, and Jordan Kent he's taken it personal...like a 6th grader

it's never over till it's over, but I think the Fisch to UW rumor didn't have strong legs

The exact same model Quick used with the Blazers. Even after they leave the Oregonian/O-Live they continue to use it and get responses.

I doubt he would be interested but IF he was…

Yeah, that would be a great hire. Probably the best hire they could make.

The roster is so depleted that I doubt anyone will turn that ship around in 1 year. Maybe 2 years with the TP. More likely 3.

Pete would turn them into a recruiting machine if he was given adequate resources (which is doubtful).

Pete, Urban and Saban were/are on a different level than pretty much any coach in the last 20 years.

A guy like Pete Carrol can recruit. There is no question players would come to play for him.

56 year old Pete Carroll could recruit...to USC.

73 year old Pete Carroll recruiting...to UW...after the debacle this week? I'd have to see it to believe it

he might be able to stop the current bleeding in Seattle but recruits were 3-4 years old the last time Pete was coaching in college, and recruiting takes a ton of younger energy

Yeah I get that. He's older now for sure but there is no question he has a name people know and he would demand a certain amount of respect.
On the other side of this I actually don't think he would be interested in going back at this point? Seems like a stretch? Or am i missing something and this is actually more than just a rumor?

yeah, I don't know if the rumor has any legs. I do think that UW is probably pretty desperate right now. They have now lost 21 of 22 starters and 33 of 44 off of their 2-deep; and their portal is open for another 29 days

NIL is a major factor now and UW doest’t seem to have the greatest operation going.

So even if he was the best recruiter in the world … if he’s working with a $1,000,000 budget when other schools are working with $10,000,000 … it won’t matter

just about the last domino on the roster, Marcus Harper is returning:

all that's left may be a couple more out of the portal

reportedly, Harper's return puts Oregon at 90 or 91 scholarships. Ducks will be doing some processing in the spring portal

OK. I better give my weekly report on Men's basketball. Oregon fell behind by 20 in the first half but ended up beating Cal 80-73 to go 5-0 in Pac 12 play. Dante finally came back from injury. Had one impressive dunk but made no impact on the game. As many good guards as they have, he might do well to focus on defense, rebounding and dunking. His postups were not good, but of course it is just his first game back. Speaking of the guards, Rigsby and Cousinard really led the way. But Tracey and Barthelemy both played more minutes than Shelsted and both shot very well. 5 assists also for Barthelemy. Evans was kind of disappointing and only played 9 minutes.
It was good to see one of my teams win since my other two favorite teams are Blazers and Cleveland Browns.

Amazing hire for Washington. Not sure what Jedd is thinking,
