Not to mention, he played multiple seasons with Oklahoma St before transferring to Washington for one season. They were ok with him bailing on his last team and it's not like he some Washington legacy player. I guess even if he was, he can do whatever is best for him.Gotta admit that is pretty sad when people openly wish injury on a player. He's simply doing something pretty much the entire team has done.
He looks very promising. Hard to get excited when he won’t be here for two years.Gatlin Bair commits to Oregon

It’s not ideal. But I can wait 2 years for a 5 star receiver. He might even turn into a TE if he stays in the weight room. My be his best bet to make the NFL

Gatlin Bair commits to Oregon
At 6'2" 195 and a 10.15 100 meter time I do not see TE in his future.
For those that don't know, that time puts him the among the fastest HS kids in the country. Has any Duck current or past ever posted a 10.15 or better? I know Samie Parker put up 10.18 100M time while in Eugene... thats take the top off the D blazing speedAt 6'2" 195 and a 10.15 100 meter time I do not see TE in his future.

While a football future at Oregon is not guaranteed in two years when Bair's mission is over, the Ducks are the only program thats allowed to be in contact with him during that period. If he does play for them, he'll be a 20 year old Freshman. Being that he's a physical freak at 17, he could have an amazing impact after he settles in.
STOMP
Devon Allen?
yeah, Allen was quite fast
Roderick Pleasant, the Duck freshman, ran a legal 10.14 and a wind-aided 10.09. Don Coleman, who migrated to football from track ran a legal 10.11 in 1978. That's the equivalent of under 10.0 today
the thing is though, that a lot of 100M sprinters generate their top 100M speeds in the last 30-40M; that's when they shave time off. Football speed is measured more appropriately by 40M/40yd marks. And what really determines football speed is acceleration and change of direction
Brandon Bair is from Idaho wonder if they are related?
Yeah, no doubt nothing is better than someone like DeAnthony Thomas whose 100-meter time was only 10.6. But.......Devon Allen's speed was a great asset stretching the field, and Bair is bigger at 6.'2" than Allen. He looks to have pretty good hands.
With that kind of speed, I would anticipate DBs giving him plenty of cushion, and with his height, he should be a good target for short passes because of that extra cushion.
Do they all own firearms too?most of Idaho is cousins in some fashion or another so they probably are.
good point. He may become a viable possession receiver like Chase Cota or a bigger/faster Jeff Maehl, but with the speed to be a deadly stop-and-go deep threat. Devon Allen was developing into that but his knees couldn't survive football contact

I don't agree. There wasn't any significant 'investment' difference between Helfrich and Mario, but they sure recruited at different levels. Now, Mario was a star-chaser to the point a lot of his highly rated recruits were borderline or outright busts. But he did elevate Oregon's recruiting ranking into the top-10
it's a little tricky assigning value to classes when there is a coaching change and high count de-commitments. If you toss out the class that Taggart had a hand in, then Mario's class rankings were #8 - #13 (Covid) - #7. The Mario/Lanning class in 2016 was #16; Lanning's tow classes have ranked #9 and #5
by comparison, the Helfrich/Taggart class ranked #18. The three Helfrich classes ranked #21 (2014) - #16 (2015) - #28 (2016). Chip's 3 classes ranked #13 - #11 - #15
(by the way, in the transition class between Taggart/Mario, Oregon had 13 de-commitments)
