It takes a mountain of dumb-assery, and even more greed, to kill something as vibrant as the PAC-12 once was.
I'm not sure if truer words have ever been spoken.

incompetence, hubris, and greed were the three legs of that collapsed tripod of dumb-assery you mentioned. Kind of like that old story about putting a frog in cold water then slowly bringing the water to a boil...the frog never jumps out thinking the water isn't an issue

Larry Scott and Carol Holt are the king and queen of the collapse along with their acolytes: the presidents of several of the schools. The barbarians at the gate were ESPN, FOX, and CBS. Predictable movie. Pac-12 needed Quentin Tarantino directing; instead they got Woody Allen

Coaches poll have us at 5 OSU at 6

if Oregon beats Washington I think they'll be in the playoffs. They are ranked ahead of Texas by the CFP

now, the CFP ranking doesn't come out till Tuesday so there will be some movement but Oregon won't move down. The one scenario that worries me (other than the Washington game) is Alabama squeaking by Georgia in the SEC championship game. I think 1 loss Georgia might be the one non-conference champion that could get in ahead of one loss Oregon. Two straight national championships is persuasive. The CFP committee has had Georgia #1 all the way and a one score loss to Alabama, coached by Saban, might not drop them out of the top-4

I just don’t see Oregon getting in higher than #4. That puts their first game against most likely Georgia. I just don’t see them beating Georgia?
I guess Michigan could move to number 1 if things go that way?
Guess we’ll have to wait and see?

SlyPokerDog prediction...

(This is based on Ducks beating the Fuskies.)

If 'Bama beats Georgia in the SEC title game the 4 playoff teams will be...

Bama, Georgia, tOSU, Michigan. (Yes, 3 1 loss teams and none are the Ducks)

The playoff committee is that weak and 2 SEC teams and 2 Big 10 would make the networks orgasmic.

If Georgia beats Bama then the Ducks are in.

....

It will be interesting to see if 1 loss Ohio State is ranked above or below the Ducks on Tuesday.

No chance two, one loss non-conference champs get in over 3 one loss conference champions.

I agree they would never ever let 2 sec and 2 big ten over three 1 lost conferance champions. If the ducks beat the huskies they are in no matter what. Everyone in the country knows how good the ducks are playing. They are the 3rd best odds of winning the championship and after they beat the huskies they will be 2nd best odds of winning it all. If Georgia loses the ducks will probably be the favorite. It seems crazy but that is how good the ducks are playing right now.

Ohio State doesn’t play anymore games and ducks will probably be #5 with Ohio State #6. The huskies will be #3 and if the ducks beat them will be #3 or #4. I’m not worried about Ohio State I’m more worried about Texas which would get in before Ohio State if they won the big 12.

Last week Oregon beat #16 Oregon St while Texas beat an unranked team, so I doubt Texas jumps Oregon this week.

Next week, Texas has #20 Oklahoma St left. Oregon has #3 Washington left, so I can't see them jumping Oregon there either.

I agree they can’t jump us if we beat the huskies. I was trying to say they would get in before a second big 10 or even a second SEC team would get in.

I know we don’t like to think like this but the Ducks still need to beat the team that is ranked higher and beat them already once this year.
Bottom line if they lose they are done.
I agree. Even though I think the ducks are a lot better team the huskies just don’t lose. They seem to find a way to pull out a win. Their coach has over 100 wins against 11 loses for his career. He just doesn’t lose. The huskies got a good coach and should do everything they can do to keep him.

The ducks imho out played them in husky stadium. Lanning lost that game with some bad play calls.
